Absolutely. Post op now. My doc/nut office only encourages us to listen to our bodies in regards to foods and what to eat. Don't eat just because it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Eat because you're truly hungry. I'm finding my stomach to cramp when I'm hungry. Granted I'm only 5 days out from surgery, but it's definitely been a time for me to learn my cues and listen. My body will change and I'll have more to learn and listen for.

    6 months post op~

Today is my 6 month surgeryversary, and so I finally got my but in gear and pulled some dresses out of the closet to take "same dress" status shots. The results shocked the heck out of me. The first pic is probably at my biggest weight; around 317. The second is maybe 1 month post op (so about 45 pounds down) and the third one -- that's today. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I'm looking at these after pics of me and thinking....am I still "fat"? I guess technically I am; still fall just in that "obese" range. But I don't look at them and just sigh at my body the way I used to. Add to that that I go to the gym 4-5 days a week, walk about a mile and a third on the treadmill every mwf, can walk more than that when I'm out and about, and my perfectly stable sleep schedule -- and altogether, I feel like a pretty different person. Fun bonus shots of how much too big these dresses (which were slightly too small at my biggest) are on me now:

    Goal Weight?

I was also told that getting to a healthy bmi was unlikely. But I did reach and am maintaining but I have to diet and exercise to reach and maintain it I can't rely on surgery. Also, my stretched out skin adds extra weight that I won't lose under I have skin surgery....it's flabby wrinkled skin which can't be dieted off but probably is about 5 extra pounds. If you want to reach a healthy bmi go for it and do it for you! The drs just want to keep our expectations realistic and they're thinking what is the expected weight loss from surgery they don't include what we are willing to do with diet and exercise to get the remaining pounds off.

    Menstrual cycle changes

Yes ma'am! I don't have the Mirena, I have the Nexplanon Implant. When I first got it about 5 years ago I was already close to my heaviest weight and had been on DepoProvera so my periods just stopped entirely. 1 week after surgery I got my period, and then just yesterday it came again! I've been using the Glow app to track all of this so I can start to identify patterns and see how it normalizes as my weight goes down. If I could make a recommendation for sanitary napkins, I've just discovered Always Maxi Size 5 Extra Heavy Overnight Pads with Wings - the coverage is fantastic for plus size undies!
