Pre Op Liquid Diet Starting Today

Day #8 and as you all shared it has become easier. I'm even finding I have to remember to have a shake as I'm not getting those hunger pangs. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Premier Protein

Every program is different. Check with your team. In my program, I didn't do a 2 week pre-op mostly liquid diet. Instead, I was on 800-1000 calories very low fat high protein for the two weeks prior to surgery with 60 grams of protein at day. I started using shakes well before surgery for breakfast and now, almost 9 month post-op, I probably have a shake for breakfast 4 days a week. I think as you get to post-op, after the liquid diet (I was allowed protein drinks immediate after surgery), I alternated between using protein powder and liquid protein. This morning is 10 ounces of coconut milk, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder and a handful of frozen tropic fruit in the blender. That will hold me easily until lunch - about 230 calories and 25 g protein. If I want to beef it up, I'll use Fairlife Skim Milk for another 13g of protein. You may find post-surgery that the taste or texture of the pre-made drinks may be an issue, so don't stock up too much, You're tastebuds change in those first few weeks after surgery.

    Premier Protein

My program allows premier protein. Also try to submit your information to insurenutrition.com and see if your insurance will approve the shakes for you. It takes about a week or two to find out. I get 4 cases of 18 a month, although they only have choc, van, and strawberry. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

As soon as I healed enough to take pills instead of chewables, I went to GNC and switched out some of the vitamins.

I agree...this may be his way of showing support and trying to help you be successful. Personally, I asked my husband to help me stay in check and this seems similar to some of the things he does to help. I know ultimately it is all up to me but having him give me a nudge in the right direction gets me thinking and sometimes helps me make even better choices. One thing you could try is telling him, in a very straightforward way, exactly what kind of support you want and what really makes you feel support from him. That way he doesn't have to guess what you want and accidentally show his support in a way that doesn't translate to what you need. Tell him what he CAN do to be helpful. Examples: "It really makes me feel loved and supported when you compliment me or notice how hard I've been working" or " When you point out a positive change in me, I find it very motivating" Sent from my SM-G900T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gained 5 lbs @ 12 weeks

Why did you increase your carbs? Glycogen in your liver and cells, creating water weight after coming off low carbing. That is your weight gain right there. Increase your protein and try to keep your carbs at 25, max 50. That is pretty easy to do. Meat and green veggies, that is all you should be eating, and the odd protein shake if you are running low on protein for the day.

    Take a Leap of Faith

I've been talking to friends and acquaintances who have told me crazy stories about what they have heard about getting the Sleeve done. When they hear that I had the surgery there fascinated and are stunned because I appear normal and healthy. Why? Because I am!!! Stop believing the negative hype!!! More and more people are getting it done. Remember the successes move on with their lives, because it's better for them. The negative stories are few and only appear on sites like this to scare you. If you are Sick of Being Sick and Tired!!! Take A Leap Of Faith!!!! It's worth the sacrifice of a two month liquids and soft foods. Do It!!!!!!

I've talked with lots of other PCOS sleevers and they all seem to say that the surgery helps with their insulin resistance, helps with their patches of darkening skin, helps to make their periods more regular, helps them get pregnant naturally... but we are stuck with the hair! I'm hoping that once I reach a more normal weight my hormones will even out enough that I'll at least be able to get electrolysis and have it work! I once looked into it and the doctor I saw told me not to bother because the minute my hormones fluctuated I'd be getting it all back again
