I just couldn't stand it anymore. Lol. I just had to clean some. Apparently I'm the only one in the house that will clean. I'm in Texas so would be long trip to clean but I do love upstate NY so that and a shake makes it tempting. [emoji16]

PMS Cravings - will they go away?

Can't recommend Dr Weiner highly enough,I have learned so much from his videos. I'm pre surgery but feel confident about the gastric bypass,I know the weight will come back unless I learn to eat differently. There really is no magic pill. I've also got his book "A Pound of Cure"

Tomorrow I will have my first appointment with my surgeon. To say that I am excited is an understatement. I made my decision 9 years ago to have the surgery done. I have been over weight my whole life except once when I was going through a very messy divorce. During the 9 years a lot has happened. I became a first time mom at the young age of 53 to not one but 2. No I did not give birth we are adopting. I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 25 so being a mom was never on my list but I did pray for a child of my own. I know that my age may play a factor, but I want a better quality of life and I want to see my children graduate. My husband is very supportive and wants what is best for my health. I have dealt with fibromyalgia for the last 20 years plus I am watching my fasting blood sugar go up. Diabetes is huge in my family history and it scares me to see it go up. I had an appointment with another clinic and was informed that I would only qualify for their medical weight loss and not the surgical. I informed them of my choice (my BMI was 39.9) I went back 6 weeks later, I had quit smoking (I smoked for 45 years) and I gained 12 pounds in 5 weeks. The nurse practitioner Add to dictionary informed my that there was people that gained weight just to have surgery. My BMI was now 41.2 and again I stated I was wanting the surgery and she informed me that the surgeon would not do the surgery and I would have to wait another six months to even be considered. I was very upset when I left so I called my insurance company (my benefits had already been confirmed that this was a covered procedure). Did I ever get a surprise, not only did I have someone that would listen, they called the clinic asked if they had a problem explained what had happened and recommended that I look for another clinic and found one for me. Tomorrow is that appointment along with appointments with the physiologist and dietician. By the way the other clinic called this week to inform me of the different surgeries that are now available to me. Yes I feel like this is a long post but there is a lot on my mind today.

Not go with the sleeve, reflux is almost guaranteed if you had prior with band.

    Gained 5 lbs @ 12 weeks

Why did you increase your carbs? Glycogen in your liver and cells, creating water weight after coming off low carbing. That is your weight gain right there. Increase your protein and try to keep your carbs at 25, max 50. That is pretty easy to do. Meat and green veggies, that is all you should be eating, and the odd protein shake if you are running low on protein for the day.

    Changing personality

I relate to this, a lot. I was always a people pleaser, never stood up for myself because I felt it was the only way to get people to like the fat me. It's taken a while but I have learned to be assertive, and not to undermine my own happiness by giving in to others. I am far from mean, but I am not the apologetic, submissive person who was always hiding her light and letting others shine. Counselling is a great option if the transition gets rocky. Best of luck!

I had a bit of the same issue. I find that if I make some Crystal Light and mix it per directions then place in a large drinking bottle and sip at it; it works. I just keep the bottle near me and just take a sip every so often. Before long, the bottle is empty and I need to refill it. I never drank Crystal Light pre-op, but found that with the flavor choices, I have been able to find some pretty good flavors. The bottle is easy to take anywhere. Mine holds 30oz. I know just drinking plain water makes it difficult to drink the required amount.

Is the sleeve right for me?

Hi! I have been banded for around 5 years and I have a lot of the same concerns. I am getting more and more excited and comfortable with the idea of the sleeve after reading the posts on here, going to my nutrition classes, and dealing with my stupid band which is even now as I type stuck after trying to eat lunch. I can't wait to get this stupid thing out of me. What happens now that i can't eat my lunch is I will still be hungry, leading me to grab something unhealthy that I know will not get stuck.. At this point I think my band is actually preventing me from losing. Good luck!

    Starbucks Unicorn Frappucino

It scares me to see young people sucking these down on the regular with no concern. I saw two teens walking to my boys' school last week with venti fraps in hand (one was unicorn one was caramel). Breakfast of champions? I think not!!

    Starving 6/7 days post op

I was hungry....soooooo hungry after surgery! I feel ur pain. I suffered until my 3wk post op visit with surgeon. I too asked "Respectfully dude...wtf?!? Doc...I thought this whole thing was to kill hunger! Im hungry! Why am i hungry? " He smiles & shakes his head... He said the surgery isn't going to take away my hunger but to teach me how to control myself. I left that appt thinking i had messed up getting this surgery. Fast forward to week 10. I still get hungry, but with the stomach pouch being so small a tiny bit gets the hunger gone. Im still sometimes making my meal plates (a saucer) too full (greed! Especially if its good) but the sleeve shuts all that madness DOWN in 3.2 bites... It's feeling like a mistake now...but when you get used to this sleeve, your mind & life changes. The transition from "Living 2 Eat" - to - "Eating 2 Live" has made me face some real sh#t about myself, my motivations in life...but imma survive & win & u will too. You did NOT make a mistake New-Sleevers.... but you did make a difficult decision & it takes heart. Stay the course, it's worth it.
