For my six month weight loss trial it had to have my weight documented, as well as what exercises I have been doing and discussion about what I will to different to work on my weight loss the next month. I had gained weight one month after a taking a stretch of steroids for an injury, so there had to be additional discussion on why I gained weight and what I will do to not only lose the weight I put on but additional weight as well. The weight loss physician wrote the letter of medical necessity for my insurance company.

    Frustrated and afraid

I use LoseIt! Premium. MFP and any other app will tell you that you are under calories if you close your day out. You don't have to close your day out. The only purpose in closing your day is to get it to tell you what your projected weight loss will be. That isn't going to be accurate anyway. Just don't close your day out, just track and move to the next day and it won't bother you about low calories. I think I have closed my day like 3 times in the past 2 years. And LoseIt still estimates my weight loss even if I don't close my days.

I made a similar mistake ordering french onion soup a couple months out. Cheese that's too melty can cause major problems. However, I still like eating out. At three months post-op I can eat most things, and I like to look for restaurants that have a "light" section of their menu. I go for chicken or ground meat and fresh vegetables and tell them to leave off any rice or potatoes that might come with the entree. I usually portion off about a third of the entree to eat and take the leftovers home. I can also order a salad that has smart add-ins, but some people don't tolerate lettuce well. Earlier post-op, I tended to order cups of soup. Most importantly, I chew very thoroughly as I normally would. That way, I don't overeat or get anything stuck. I only go out once in awhile, but it is possible to make healthy choices and enjoy them!

Regarding the lack of energy, I felt it for about six weeks post-op. Mine was due to low level post-anesthesia fog that persisted for several weeks after the surgery. http://health.ccm.net/faq/326-fatigue-after-general-anesthesia

    First meeting with surgeon

Im just starting out with my WLS journey and figure I'll post some info in case it's helpful to anyone else, since everyone else's stories and posts have been very helpful to me. I just left my first appointment with the surgeon. When I was first considering WLS I wanted the sleeve since it's less "severe" than the bypass, but once I started doing more research I didn't think I would be a good candidate due to my heartburn and reflux. After speaking with my doctor today he said that my reflux isn't bad enough to rule out the sleeve (it's well controlled with medication and diet changes and I never suffered with it until I gained all this weight) but that he would be fine doing either procedure. He wanted me to pick a procedure today (I can change my mind later) so I went with the sleeve. The difference in projected weight loss between the two comes out to be about 15 pounds for me (175 with RNY and 190 with sleeve). Both of those numbers are kind of disappointing to me, as I would like to be closer to 130-140, but I am confident that once I get going with the weight loss that I'll be able to increase my activity to help me lose even more. I'm not sure if that's realistic or not. Does anyone regret going with the sleeve instead of the bypass? A little background on me: I'm 33, 5'2.5", and currently weigh 281.3 pounds with a BMI of 50.6 (just high enough to get out of the 6 month supervised diet required by BCBS of MI). My highest weight that I know of was 288 the other day. Not sure where the 7 pounds went because I didn't change anything yet. The surgeon wants me to lose 15 pounds before surgery which seems very doable. I also have to get medical clearance and a letter of necessity from my PCP, psych evaluation, exercise evaluation, and (TMI) see my gyno since I haven't had a period since new years eve (not pregnant, just good old PCOS). I met with the NUT today and then made all of my appointments in my car before I left the office. I hope to have everything completed by the 31st, which is the date of my exercise evaluation. The surgeon said that I could possibly have surgery at the end of June, which would be awesome.

    Sleeved May 5th!

I had my sleeve Friday. It went very well. I was not prepared for the gas and nauseous, which was far worse that any if the surgery pain. Came home after two nights. Learning that I can't really lay down or it will make me feel nauseous. Other than that I feel great! Already down 11 pounds. Feeling optimistic and hope this positive momentum stays put.

Wow, that's coming up FAST. Good luck to you on surgery day and every day thereafter! Keep educating yourself along the way.

It has almost the same sugar as 16 ounces of Coca Cola and a lot of other things (starbucks 59, coke 52). Unhealthy sugar filled foods and drinks are pushed on people every day. This drink is just an easy target. Almost everyone I know that has tried said they would never have another one. All those Frappucinos are full of sugar, especially all the creme based ones like this one. Everyone knows, everyone ignores it. I don't get why everyone is freaking out now.
