    4 oz per hour?

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 4/13, and it's been going great. Healing fast, no pain, no problem with gas or keeping down liquids. Going to the doc tomorrow for my two week appointment and will ask this then, but ... I don't feel like my stomach is small enough, if that makes sense. It's supposed to be around 4 oz, right? And liquids are supposed to be difficult to get down, and only a few sips, like 4 oz., is supposed to fill you up. Well, I am not having ANY problems with liquids, or getting down more than 4 oz. at a time. Have I messed something up here? Do you think I could have stretched my stomach already by drinking too much? I'm hoping I'm just a quick healer with a strong constitution...

    Sugar free popsicles

Most people look to popsicles as a means of getting some extra water in, not as a meal replacement. They can be a nice treat but that's about it. I used them a lot right after surgery but once I was back to regular foods I rarely had them. Since you want to avoid drinking fluids at meal times it wouldn't be a good idea to have one along with regular food. May not be the exact same as drinking a glass of water but the idea is the same.

    Troubling Bloodwork

I had this problem the second time I went for my blood work. Basically the fat and cholesterol from our body gets dissolved and that's what we use to live on. It's showing higher than before if not present in an alarming amount because the body is using it rather than storing it. Don't be scared, it will be gone soon.

    4wks post- gained 2?!?

You are just in the "three week stall." Google it and you'll find lots of information. Your body is healing right now, and you won't likely get an accurate weight in the first month. You just need to keep meeting your protein and water goals each day, and stay off the scale if it is going to upset you. The weight will start to come off again soon, but it won't be linear, and will often be quite erratic. Good luck!

    Great documentary

I've watched a great documentary on bariatric surgery. It's mainly aimed at the uk healthcare system but the statistics and benefits are so compelling

    Lap Band....First Episode!

I was fat - Obese becausaeI ate all the wrong foods, and ate the wrong way. Diets never helped, tried and failed 100 times. Lap Band surgery changed all that. It FORCED me to change what I eat, and how I eat. I once ate like a glutton, now I eat like a bird. Not going to guess what your episode was, but be ready. The lap band will change your life. Why else did we have this surgery if we do not want it to do something??? I am 6 years out. What and how I eat has become routine. But in the beginning while I was learning my lessons (the hard way) I sometimes got stuck a few times a day until I finally broke! Even today, every now and then without thinking I will take too large a bite - swallow, or gulp a drink and immediately I will be strongly reminded I did have surgery once. People who get stuck, have food - slime come back up immediately think there is something wrong....(Maybe there is but not with the band) I say seize the moment, think about what you did to cause the episode, and learn from it....eventually you will break all those habits you never knew you had and change your life for good.
