I totally agree with you about sizing. This has always been an issue for me before & after WLS. Before my surgery, in Torrid my pants size was 12, I go to Forever 21 plus & a I'm either a 12 or 14. In department stores like Macy's I was a size 20. I stick to "stretchy" flattering pants now since jeans & most pants in general are a nightmare. White pants can go with any light color top like peach, nude, or even an off white. You can also be risky-trendy & wear red on top of white pants since it looks bold but classy. Skirts, same. Bleach keeps them clean. When you're out and about always bring Tide To Go for stains. All the best to you too. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 171 lbs My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

Hey need some friends that can relate

Same here. Banded in march 2013. Lost 70 in the first year and by now gained 50 back. After first year just stopped following the rules. Now going to try to get back into the groove. Used to be in Essex now in Passaic.

Yes, the tubular sleeved stomach can stretch. Yes, the stomach pouch of a gastric bypass patient can stretch. Stomachs are made up of smooth muscle, which is capable of stretching. My sleeve definitely has a greater capacity than it did during those first few post-op months. Plainly speaking, my sleeve can accommodate more food now. However, anyone who expects tight stomach restriction by itself to prevent overeating may be engaging in unrealistic thinking. At this point, the quality of food I place into my mouth is more important than the size of my sleeve. A person with a thumb-sized sleeve or golf ball-sized bypass pouch can and will regain all his/her weight if too many slider foods (e.g., chips, cookies, crackers, pretzels, ice cream, popcorn, donuts, mashed potatoes) are eaten. Slider foods do not produce a feeling of fullness or satiety. Therefore, a person who is determined to eat around the pouch or sleeve can accomplish his/her mission by overeating sliders. My personal saying is, "The road to weight regain is paved with Lays, Doritos, Ruffles, Ben & Jerry's, Fritos, Oreos, Breyers, and Chips Ahoy." It is all about choices.

    Any Regrets?

I was really happy with my experience. I only told few people before I went because one of the people I did tell had me so scared after I spoke to her! She had seen some Dateline program from 15 years ago about Mexico surgeries and had to tell me about it. I knew I had done plenty of research and talked to a lot of people on Facebook who had gone and they assured me it was going to be fine! It was. Minus having to get used to the "relaxed" concept of time down there-once I accepted that, things were great! My surgery was 3/27 and now that im home and doing really well, I tell everbody! *side note- I work a physically demanding job and do wish I had taken 3 weeks off. My first week back to work was exhausting.

    Straw?

Drinking from a straw and swallowing will increase the amount of gas you have in your pouch, which will both limit the amount of food or water you can have in your pouch at any given time, or may simply cause you to throw up if you over-do it. Having said that, I, like @Berry78 said, have found that if you just pull the liquid into your mouth, then open your mouth and release the air, it works fine. I will caution though that I have a sleeve and I rarely use straws.
