61 Yrs & Surgery is Tomorrow

My surgery is tomorrow and along with being excited to start this phase of my life, I'm also terrified of everything that can go wrong...including failure and health issues or even death from surgery. Are these feelings normal?

    Has anyone been sleeved twice?

Carbs and sugar, especially breads and fried foods do not satisfy you nutritionally. Your hunger is your body saying "Feed me nutrition!" :-). Whether we are sleeved or not those foods cause additional hunger. Think about time you were first sleeved and how devoted to doing it right you were. Whether you feel you've "stretched" your sleeve or not you still have restrictiveness. Take advantage of your restriction and feed it good stuff. Remember? protein, veggies and if you have room then a few carbs. Back to basics[emoji173]. You still have the tool. You still have 80% of your tummy gone and the nasty grelin hormone producers aren't there. When your hungry think of it as you body crying out for something clean and healthy. You can do this. You've done it before. Use this support board to come to when you just don't feel you can do it. Take care

What did you do with your clothes?

Goodwill. Most have certain sales too Color of the week give me 50% off. Most have a designer section but it's obvious whomever is sorting doesn't know their designers. I'll often find white stag in that section. Walmart. Then in the regular section I found a gorgeous pair of lucky Brand $3 with a 50%off. My price $1.50.

I didnt have any problems either ... just be grateful you can drink and eat well. Stick to weighing foods though and keep to 2-3 oz until your tummy heals more. Also if you had a more dense protein, you probably wouldn't be able to eat as much. Why do you feel as if you are doing something wrong?

What did you do with your clothes?

Personally I don't have any old smaller clothes, so I'll be shopping Goodwill, and wearing dresses with leggings that can fit multiple sizes.

We've all experienced the typical ways of not fitting into the world... restaurant booths, airplane seats, amusement park rides, chairs with arms, student desks, regular sized blood pressure cuffs, etc. Friday I had to have a cardiac stress test in order to get cardiac clearance for VSG surgery. It's one of the last steps I have before getting insurance approval. In the nuclear medicine area of my doctor's office, there is a waiting room with a little alcove where they put the IV port in. There is no door on this alcove. I can hear everything the tech is saying to each person as he explains the procedure and puts in the IV and then sends them back to the waiting room.. Most of the people there are over 65 or so, and I know some of them are hard of hearing, just from observing them in the waiting room. I'm 50, and definitely not hard of hearing. So when it's my turn, and the tech stars his spiel, I stop him and tell him I've heard him give it about four times now. Then suddenly he stops, and in that same loud voice, says he's not sure I'll fit into the imaging machine. So when there is an empty machine he takes me in there to make sure I'm going to fit. It does, just barely, go over me. When I come out of that room to go back to the alcove, every eye in the waiting room is on me. I don't get embarrassed easily, and being fat doesn't embarrass me. I wasn't embarrassed that everyone knew that I might be too fat for the machine... they all have eyes, they can all see how big I am. Normally, I would have schooled the person on how they should treat fat people, so that other fat people aren't embarrassed. But for some reason, this time I didn't. I'm not really sure why. I have a followup appointment in two weeks and I might bring it up then. Anyway, yet another example of how I don't fit into the world. That's my main reason for getting the surgery, I want to fit into the world.
