    Regrets. Need reinforcement

K_aane makes an excellent point. I am 5 days post op and have no regrets. I saw the Oprah commercial and looked at it from the "Hungry for Change" perspective. She says, I can have chips...she loves chips. Who doesn't love chips? Nobody and I really mean nobody actually needs chips. They are empty calories and not good for you. I tried WW at least three times and was told I could eat whatever I want but had to stay within point parameters. So if you eat high calorie foods your hungry the rest of the time. Also check out "The Perfect Human Diet". I think I saw it on Hulu. It talks about human and non-human food. Believe it or not, humans eat ALOT of non-human foods... Always think of your new tummy as a tool to help you maintain control. I love my new tummy:-). My lack of hunger and new relationship with food is exciting and hopeful. Think positive thoughts. 1st Night of my journey

Doing a pre op really really helps with going to liquid. It helps to ease the shock of going from eating to drinking liquid and purée for 6-8 weeks. Going from steak and potatoes one day to clear broth can be traumatic. Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal

I'm new here, hope I am doing this right! I'm Canadian and have been researching surgeons do to a sleeve for me (possibly a bypass but I'm leaning towards the sleeve). Researching this is overwhelming. I don't know which acredititations are important, etc. I seem to have landed on Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela who works out of the Mi Doctor hospital in Tijuana. Can anyone speak to their experience here at this hospital and with this surgeon? I have heard this hospital is not as large or "nice" as the Angeles hospital and others, but I'm not sure if that matters. It is a smaller facility and am told it is a full service hospital. I have read one negative review about the facility. Anyone who can share an experience would be greatly appreciated, I am overwhelmed by information. Cat.

    1st Night of my journey

My surgery was at 1230pm today. Unfortunately, my single incision turned into two. The doctor says it was because of my height (6'7"). He did mention it could happen. I was released at 630pm, and now home in a lounger. The nurses advised me not to sleep on my back until the gas pressure is gone. The gas pressure certainly is still real thing. Surprisingly, liquids seem to be going down well. Granted small sips, but I drank 8oz of Water at hospital in 3 hours, and now 4oz in less than an hour. My surgeon didn't require a pre-op diet, except the day before the surgery. I put on a few pounds, but my SW 372 GW 260 Good luck to the rest of February sleevers. Let's do our journey together. Oprah has enough money where she can pay somebody to follow her around all day long and slap Cookies out of her hand. Oprah is not a real life example to compare to. If anything she proves that dieting does not work for everyone as she has yo-yo'd all her life. I'm not quite 2 1/2 weeks post-op and I second guess myself at times, but I also know that I was out of options. I'm sure there will be times I still question it a year from now or even 5 years from now.

I like my Fitbit Aria as well. It does synch with the Fitbit app, and then I have it connect to the MyFitnessPal app as well. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Need some advice

It will work. It should work. And 1492 is very doable. I'm imagining your stats. I put in my stats as if I'm at my goal weight and my goal to gain muscle, which I plan to still do (weight train) 3 times a week post-op. Crazy big numbers right? I know, but it's pretty much right on. I'm weight training now and I'm ravenously hungry all day...I'm eating more, but I'm losing inches. The more you move the more you need to fuel. But if you're not in to exercise, it's going to boil down to the right foods and enough of them. You can do it hon. Many blessings to you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I believe you made the best decision in your life. your still early in your journey so you have to get rid of that mindset. Stop looking at all the things you cant have. be creative when it comes to preparing meals with the foods you can have. also never compare your journey to someone's else especially Oprah lol. Stay encouraged its all uphill from here

9 Months and the Game is Changing

Sooo Im at like 7 months right now... I'm at a weight that's very comfortable for me so if I can slow my weight loss to about 5 lbs a month I'd be satisfied!!! My goal was 140--- Now I feel like 160 might be it for me... I'm 167 currently. I'm not concerned about slow weight loss. SO... I keep my routine going. I don't count calories AT ALL!!!!!! I'm more focused on food groups. I still have something light for breakfast- a fruit and veggie smoothie, or a Protein shake, or fruit and yogurt or Breakfast meat but I eat something preferably something with protein but sometimes I just want a smoothie. Grazing is life!!!!!! I bring or purchase a grazebox at work so my Snacks are already ready to go. My grazebox usually contains 4 items it could be 8 cheese cubes, 10 cucumber slices , 15 grapes, and 1/4 cup of mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, peanuts) Its in a divided container so it fits perfectly. I have other combinations like cheese, apple slices, hummus and celery, or Nuts, pineapple, carrots and strawberries. Anyways I graze on this ALL DAY at work starting at about noon. My lunch is usually 1 item. Today it was 4 lemon pepper wing dings, Tomorrow it might be a mini garden salad with grilled chicken. It might be a leftover baked porkchop or lobstertail from last nights dinner. By 3 oclock I'm back snacking on my grazebox and I usually still have food left over by the end of the day. I take it home and add it to my grazebox for the next day. Sometimes I can easily skip lunch because the grazebox keeps me satisfied. Its all about what you are grazing on. I usually leave work about 430-5pm I have to pick kids up and stop by the store sometimes I snack on what remains of the grazebox or whatever was left from lunch but I don't typically eat after 6pm and I'm not hungry. Now 1-2 times per week I may eat out with the family, or join a friend for drinks but that is the only instance where I may really eat past 6 or 7pm. Sometimes I might just purchase food eat a few bites of salad and carryout the rest. Find what works for you... I personally see nothing wrong with grazing. Just watch the carbs and make sure your activity levels are where they should be. You know what that is... what works for you may not work for me and vice versa. I was going to the gym 4-5 days a week but I wasn't pushing myself so I started taking kickboxing classes, boot camp and classes that would push me to my physical limits.
