Hello everyone, I just wanted to share something with you all that will hopefully be helpful to those who haven't had surgery yet, or to those who are post op and need to be encouraged to get all of their liquids in each day (64 ounces or more per day). I made a post on here several days ago, I was concerned about dizzy spells that I was having. I wound up going to the doctor this past Thursday because of the dizziness. My blood pressure was fairly low (for me anyway)-- 96/70. I am 13 weeks post op and my blood pressure is usually up around 125/75. I remember my surgeon and nutritionist stressing from the very beginning how important it was to get in your liquids everyday. So I had been making a point to do that, and since the very beginning, I had no trouble getting in about 76 ounces a day. However, within the last couple of weeks there were a few days I had unintentionally slacked off some. I was finding that food and drink were filling me up more than usual, and by 7 p.m. each night, I could literally not drink any more liquids. So, after my doctor's appointment Thursday, things started going downhill. I went out grocery shopping Friday and when I got home, I was incredibly fatigued, I have never felt so rotten. It was like a ten ton truck had run me over. On top of that, I was dizzy, my blood pressure was low and I had a horrible headache. ALL of these problems continued through the weekend. I called my doctor's office this morning and they said to go to the ER. I just got home from the ER. They did an EKG, scan, bloodwork and gave me IV fluids. I found out that I have a urinary tract infection and that I was mildly dehydrated. Instructions are antibiotics for the infection and to drink more fluids. I want to say that I only got "off program" with my liquids for a few days. You just can't do that. It is SO IMPORTANT to get your fluids! Luckily, my case was mild dehydration and a UTI, which is no fun. But others have become dehydrated to the point where it can cause even worse problems and it can land you in the hospital for days if you don't stay on top of it! Sip, sip, sip! Don't forget to drink!

Well, it may not seem that big of a deal but yesterday was the last day that I had to take Ursodiol (used to prevent gall stones). I am so happy that there is now one less pill (tablet) that I have to take everyday.

    Updates Site?

Can we fix the email issue? If we had all emails turned off before, now we are getting emails for every post we have commented on. The only way to turn them off is to go in to the website and turn off emails for each and every one. My email has been blowing up all day. There should be an "all email off" option like there used to be. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

How did I overcome food addiction? I think I didn't. --- Why do I think that? I think it's because I can't imagine continuing losing weight or maintaining weight without the crutch of the MGB. I wasn't before (started gaining back after the fill had to be removed from my lap-band and maintained at a higher level at about 50% EWL only) and I don't think I would be able to maintain now if I had the whole capacity of my stomach available. To view myself as truly recovered from emotional eating it would be necessary to be able to maintain a somewhat normal weight without my crutch. However, that's my personal definition of "being cured".

I got my stamp of approval today with my insurance! I was in my kinder classroom when I got the news. I jumped for joy first to thank My Lord and then I did the happy dance and of course the kids danced with me. So excited that it's my turn to Celebrate to my new beginning! Now waiting to find out surgery date. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How did you get over your addiction?

For me this is totally about adiction to food/eating. I'm in therapy now and before surgery. I'm an emotional eater. It was my entertainment, companion, soother, reward. You name it food took everything's place. I've done this since I was a little girl. Now at 54 changing thought patterns about food and eating is a challenge but one am willing to take on for the rest of my life. I want to be healthy and mobile! Morbid obesity and these 2 states of being do not go together. Something had to go and I choose to let go of the food/eating thing. Is this going to be the most difficult thing I've ever done? ABSOLUTELY! Will it continue to be at issue for the rest of my life. Most likely YES! I say BRING IT ON! I am worth the fight and struggle to remain healthy and mobile! Good luck and best wishes to all!

@@nique4life2002@gmail.com So glad you have been one of the lucky ones! I think it's strange how some of us just cannot get it controlled, but I imagine it depends on a lot of different factors. My sleeve was just uncooperative from the beginning. It never quite settled down for me. I'm glad I now have no reflux! (now I battle air bubbles, lol)
