    Wednesday is almost here!

Congratulations!!! I don't think you will be sorry. When I had my surgery they gave really strong pain meds, liquid, which may help with the arthritis. I had to wash with special cleaner the night before and the morning of the surgery and never heard of the 'q'tip and the belly button. That is a new one. I couldn't have caffeine for many months after the surgery. I do limit it though. I am a tea drinker not coffee. One thing I did not do before the band, take measurements or pictures. That is up to you, though.

    Wednesday is almost here!

I feel your pain, I truly do. Between being ravenous on the preop diet, and also off my nsaids, I was miserable.and in tremendous pain. But it was all worth it now that I've dropped 86 lbs. and became a good candidate for joint replacement surgery....which I wasn't able to do before losing the weight. I have to have several joints replaced, but after it's all done, I expect to be mobile and in much less pain than I've been dealing with these last two years. Good luck and I know you will do great!

    Day 19 and discouraged

I stalled for 2 1/2 weeks about the same time and then the scale started moving again. Hang in there! Your body is trying to get used to all of these changes and it needs time to adjust. Stay on track and the weight will start coming off again!

This is the time of the first of many stalls. Just keep following your plan and hide the scale.

    Little Support with My Decision

Good for you! I will say when I first mentioned having the sleeve done, my husband was not exactly thrilled. When we talked about his reluctance for me to have the sleeve it turns out he, like most people, didn't differentiate between the sleeve and gastric bypass. He knew someone who had bypass done 15 years ago and she had a bunch of complications. I gently mentioned that technology has changed in 15 years lol I explained to him what I knew about the sleeve and why I thought it was a good option for me. I also brought him with me to the informational seminar my center gives and as luck would have it it was given by the surgeon I wanted to perform my surgery. Hubby felt much better after this. Having said that, he's the only one I've told about my decision. I just don't want to have to spend the next 3 months explaining myself and my decision. I know before I did a lot of research I was pretty ignorant when it comes to WLS - all I knew was I knew people from a former job who had had bypass and wound up gaining a lot of weight back. I suspect I'll tell my in laws as the time gets closer. Other than that, I don't feel the need to broadcast it. I plan on getting support from my husband, the support group at the center, and here Best of luck to you on your journey!

Guess what? Shingles and surgery don't mix

I'm glad that you are feeling better, from what my mother says shingles can be worse that surgery, she got them right after she had her brain surgery I felt so bad for her.

    I'm my own worst enemy

It has been 11 days since my surgery, I remain exhausted too. Pain is very little but I can not stop sleeping. I walk 25 minutes a day, and then sleep a great deal of the rest of the day.I was going to go back to work after 2 weeks, but working 12 hour night shifts, there is no way I am ready. I am ususally one who bounces back fast, but this has kicked my rear. I tried to go to a party yesterday. Stayed for an hour and left only to sleep the rest of the afternoon and night. I am only eating about 400-500 cals a day and maybe this is why, but wow, I would like my energy back. I hope we get it back soon.

    I'm my own worst enemy

I was surprised at the exhaustion too. I'm always the resilient one! This is big surgery. I needed to take 2 weeks off (I only thought 1 week max) and it took the first 4 weeks to not feel somewhat fragile. I tried to listen to my body and take it easy when I got home from work. By 8 weeks I was doing pool exercise 3X a week and walking. At 8 weeks there were moments I was worried because I actually forgot about my sleeve. It does get better.

    New Goals ahead of ME!

Some times it just helps to take measurements and photos of your self and to see the visual change in yourself. Even though your scale isnt moving your internal body is changing and that will show up in a scale victory down the road. Congratulations to your new goals and I cant wait to see you victory dance show up on the boards! Be encouraged!
