Pre-Op Diet and Worries About Being Thinner

But I guess it plays on my basic fear of change. How am I going to handle being thinner and how people will react and treat me at work and socially. As it is, I have 40 years of knowing how people treat the fat me. Now, I have to worry about how people will treat me as a thin person. Yep... the big isasue is our head(s). Know and work on this and all will be OK, I believe (and I am as crazy as you are).

    Pre-surgery efforts

I read your entry and It inspired me to blog. I have been on here for months mostly just reading and trying to soak in information. But I should be writing down my journey so I can look back at it. I hope all goes well for you. I started in February and my insurance requires at 6 month wait, with monthly meetings with my nutritionist. I have lost 45 pounds. I have my last visit on the 16th. Now I just have to wait for the scheduler to call with my surgery date. I am so ready for this to get moving! Best of wishes to you. I will enjoy reading your blog to see how you are doing!

4 days post op, doing well!

Elisa, Annie...sorry I forgot to come back and tell you about my visit with the doctor. He says that in all the conferences he attended the most successful results came from people that had the 38 to 40 size bougie used to measure their stomachs. If a smaller size bougie is used (when your stomach stretches over time) you can sometimes eat 60 to 70 percent of what you used to eat. This will happen several years down the road. If your stomach starts out as small as mine, I will not stretch to be that big. It's been a big adjustment but I haven't really had a lot problems. He used the 40 size bougie for my surgery.

4 days post op, doing well!

I actually didn't ask him that but I will when I see him next week. God bless you and your upcoming surgery! Just remember to bring chapstick, a travel pillow and toiletries so you can feel as normal as possible. Only worry about one set of clothes because you'll be in the hospital gown the whole time and you won't want to change out of it because it's so comfy.
