    Newbie...and soooo hungry!

Hey, sweetheart, calm down! I know it's hard and you are doubting a lot of things but the hunger..the hunger is only in your head. It will pass. I'm a new sleevee as well, I'm just over 6 weeks out of my surgery and until 1-2 weeks ago I has the same questions you had. Why am I hungry? Did the doctor not cut 85% of my stomach and so on! You'll see, this psychological hunger will pass soon, wait and see and don't despair! As for feeling slightly full..that's normal when you're downing liquids or creamy liquids or shakes etc.. Our new sleeved tummy will take in a lot of liquids , don't worry, its normal! Of course your tummy is not stretched out! Don't be silly! And for the sleeve itself ...is not an exact science , its impossible for the doctor to cut exactly 85% of the stomach but its pretty much around that size! I really hope you'll feel better soon and stop worrying! I did worry too and at 3 weeks I already hit the first plateau when I started solids but the weight started melting again after a week. I'm down 40 pounds in 6 weeks and my starting weight was 280. So cheer up, everything will be perfect! I wish you all the best xx

    And So My Journey Begins

What a fantastic post!! I hope to be a week or two behind you. Will find out Wednesday. But your story is so similar to mine, it was like reading my thoughts. I HATE being the fat mom. And I don't even want to look at photos of myself. Keep us posted - I'm rooting for you!

    Hurtin' for Certain

Not sure how much you have to lose, but there is a blog 300poundsdown.com where the writer talks about how much pain she was in prior to surgery. It is a good read and will help you realize, you're not alone in having physial pain. Maybe her story will give you some encouragement on this hard day.

    Need Advice on Sugar Addiction

I had a really bad sweet tooth prior to surgery - I guess I would say it was a sugar addiction (couldn't get enough, the more I ate it, the more I craved it. Even would get sugar "hangovers".) I had quit sugar cold-turkey in the past and went through what felt like detox around the 4th day (headaches, etc.), but after that I felt a lot better. After surgery I didn't have much sugar at all, given the liquid diet we are on - so I think that, coupled with the painkillers, got me through the "detox" period. Now, I really don't think much about it at all (I was sleeved on 3/25). I can honestly say when I see sweets and desserts, I can take it or leave it (before I would have been obsessing about it) and be satisfied with one bite. I just hope that lasts! Good luck to you. :-)

I found using a ridiculously tiny pickle fork at meal times helped slow me down a bit.

    Need Advice on Sugar Addiction

With any previous dieting prior to surgery once I went 3-4 days without sugar/candy/sweets etc... my cravings would go away. Just getting it out of my system really helped. Happy to say now I've not had those cravings having gone without for a while. Good luck with your journey.

NSV - Peeing Like A Man

thanks for sharing...even though embarrassing I'm sure there are many out there who go through similar things. I had my own bathroom issues when I was extremely overweight...female issues. It feels awesome to go to the bathroom like a normal person.
