Hi Donna and welcome. I will be 63 in October and today is my one year. Best thing I ever ever did. You can read my blog right below yours and it sort of tells my journey. People complain about the pre-op diet being liquids and post-op liquids. Well we have eaten enough food (we wouldn't be here if we were perfect) to get us by. I never once thought of cheating because I was too afraid of what could happen to me. I never did any research either. I found this site after the band. I am not good with computers so I never went looking for the unknowns and I am fine with that. I had many things wrong with me, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, RLS, hernia, stomach in wrong place. Now I only take recommended vitamins and minerals everyday.

I just turned 65. I was banded when I was 61. I have had my band for 3 1/2 years. I had wanted some kind of surgery for years, but had neither researched it, nor heard of lapbanding. I was never, too, self conscious until I was too heavy for one of the tables at a medical center, and they had to send me to another center which had a table for over 250 lbs. Then I was embarrassed! I was ready, too because of my arthritis and high blood pressure. Welcome to lapband!

    Messed Up Bad

One cookie and one bag of chips once in a blue moon is ok...that's what people do...but you have to keep it in check...like no more than once a month or something like that. I had a cookie Sunday..one smallish cookie...not the whole batch.

    Stall :(

I promise the stall won't last long!!! Walk a few extra steps, and make SURE you are getting enough protein. DO NOT deprive yourself of food to lose more. If you do, your body holds on to what it has in case no more food comes down the pike! Drink as much water as you can, up that protein! (Eat some meat if you can, taco meat, chicken salad, etc) It won't take long...in 18 weeks, I have had 2 stalls, and the support on here taught me the advice i just gave you! It works! PS: 27 pounds in 6 weeks is great: You could not have done that without this surgery!

    Stall :(

I am going through the same thing right now and am about 6 weeks out. been at the same weight up and down a pound for a week. I think it is our bodies adjusting. I bet next week we will loose 5 pounds. It is difficult to know you are working so hard and nothing is moving. Just remember the body is strange and miraculous and sometimes a week or 2 at a stand still just means your body is taking the time it needs to do what it needs to do. As long as you are following what you are supposed to do just ride it out. 27 pounds is awesome. I wish you all the best.

    Fear....

wow so you have concerns about being 45.. lol wish I was only 45 again.. but my daughter reminds me that every day is a gift.. She treats terminal cancer patients every day.. so when I whine about getting old or whatever she brings me back to what is really important in life.. and if you can even wear a bikini you are 90 % luckier than most of us.. I will never be able to wear another bikini.. too old for one thing and too flabby for another.. gravity is a b...so you go strut yourself on the beach and enjoy..

    Fear....

Nwww happy birthday, my friend. And you know what I think: that at 45, you are still one of the most beautiful women I know. And you have a rockingest bikini body! But I understand the insecurity about it, because I've been there. It's taking that first step, put on that bikini and step out onto that sand, and I promise you, no one is going to laugh at you. In fact, they're going to think you're beautiful, just as much as I do!
