    Dumping syndrome

At 8 months out, I wished I experienced dumping syndrome. I'm guessing once you are a little further out, you'll wish you had it too. Without it, it's easy to eat the things that got us to the point of needing surgery.

Will I fit in the Airplane seat?

I flew first class recently because the last time I flew coach when I got off the plane my whole side was numb, LOL I also purchased my own seat extender so I wouldn't feel embarrassed asking for one. Can't wait to fly coach again with out cramps on the hips.

    Acceptance

Great post! I too had to get to this acceptance of the real changes I had to make and my full participation to achieve my goals. I got there kicking and screaming....but each day gets better. Good luck.

    Ready, Set, GO!

Congratz on having the right state of mind for the surgery! I'm having mine done in two days and I'm very excited! I understand about letting the wild child in you out and doing things that you are embarrassed to do right now! I feel the same way myself! Good luck! Lucy

    Getting excited!!

It took me 7 months to decide if I wanted to take this journey and on May 1st, 2013 I did. You are going to do just fine. Let me know when you get your surgery date.

    Surgery Tomorrow

You won't have to miss any of those foods, at least not forever. The thing is, you won't be able to eat as much of them as before, but you can certainly have a couple of bites & feel fine with that. There may be certain foods that no longer agree with you, but that can happen to anybody. Some people develop allergies to things as they get older, or start getting heartburn from something they used to eat with no problem. Adjustments are a part of life, and this is certainly a big one. Seeing a counselor is a great idea, although I have to admit I am biased. I'm working on my masters degree in clinical mental health counseling, so that's definitely not an objective opinion. Do everything you can do to help ensure your own success.

I broke my sobriety last night

Don't be too hard on yourself. The key here is, that you're right back on track today. This is how it's going to be through the rest of your life; allowing yourself a little something off plan on occasion, but then hopping right back on track. I was banded on 3/25/13, and decided that the Memorial Day BBQ I went to, would be the day I allowed myself some wine. I hadn't had anything to drink three months prior, and thought one glass would be all I could tolerate. Not! I think that I drank damn near an entire bottle! I tolerated it fine, but didn't feel very well for a couple of days. Not sick; just off a shade or two. I'd like to say "lesson learned", but I'm sure I'll have a day like that again. Felt NO pain & had a great time!!
