    New Bandsters becoming extinct?

I agree MsMaui. I am certainly opened to the Sleeve if that is what my Wife chooses. My gripe is not about which surgery is better. My issue was how she introduced the three options to brand new people attending an informational seminar. I may be exaggerating a bit when I say she should've just told them all not to get the band period. "You will fail and not lose weight." because that's the way my Wife and I heard it. Basically it comes down to this, they will keep offering the band because there will always be people who want it and why turn someone away someone who is willing to spend money.

Exactly! I'm looking forward to those moments when I'm not "too big" to do things with them! It's kind of silly when I think about myself....I'm scared to have surgery for ME (afraid of pain, complications, etc) but then when I think of THEM and their future with me being so unhealthy and out of shape it's almost like I get a false sense of bravery and for a brief moment forget about MY fears because I owe it to THEM. Ahhhh, if I can just keep up this bravery until AFTER I have surgery

Your post really hit home with me too. I think all of us with kids, especially younger kids, have similar moments. Mine was a few weeks ago when my daughter (she's 3) asked me for a piggyback ride and then said "It doesn't work. You're too big!" when her legs didn't fit around me like they do when her daddy gives the ride. Ouch! But definitely affirmed my decision to move forward with my surgery. Now, I am excited and looking forward to the day when I can give her that piggyback ride properly!

I wish you the best of luck. From what i've read, you seriously need consult with a new doctor. This clown seems not only unprofessional, but down right rude.Good luck in all you do.

Will I ever be able to eat my Faves again?

I am 9 months after surgery.. as memory serves .. about 2 months after I could have a small portion of just about anything I wanted. I find pasta and steak to be extremely filling though, even to this day.. but that is the magic of the sleeve. A little dab will do ya You can have a bite or 2 of ANYTHING you choose.. but be very careful about those choices and remember what got us here to begin with. I can also eat cheetos.. I can eat a lot of cheetos..lol crunchy things chewed well seem to be easy.. which means bad . I am kind of stuck at the moment, you become so addicted to running to the scale to see how many pounds you lost today.. well I did anyway.. then it was did I loose a pound this week? now.. I am back to my shakes and cottage cheese and not " testing what I can have" I know I do not NEED it and those things are why I had the surgery and the weight problem to start, So good luck, enjoy and remember to make good choices when you can.

I'm excited for you... I'm excited for me... But right now, I'm more excited for your aunt! I really am! Isn't it wonderful to know you can cast a pebble into the water and see the impact spread out to others? Those ripples in the water are your aunt.... And hopefully my brother... And others we love getting on the right track with us! Congratulations!

The first 3 months post op were very difficult for me- I wanted my weight to magically be gone. And it wasn't. I slowly got to where I am, and it didn't happen overnight. I look back at the past 9 months and I'm thankful that my brain and emotions had time to adjust to the physical changes. Just take it one day at a time!! I'm a totally (new improved version) of my previous self!
