Understanding the psychology of it all!

I know where you're coming from. As a big girl, I was the extrovert, the one with the big heart, the one who always gave of myself, but since losing weight I find myself far more cynical and have put up walls to protect myself as well. I don't think I'm any less of the person I once was, I am just more careful about who I'm like that with. You will change as society changes the way it views you, and you will find a new normal, I'm sure of it.

    Starving like Marvin

Of course, ask! I had the same issue. I called the doctor's office. I was told that I could get a cup of plain yogurt (not greek and not thick and creamy), and thin it down with milk or a protein shake and drink that. It did help get me through till I could start the mushy phase.

I am a sugar addict and my food funerals has been making me feel the same way. I was so about to give in, read this and thought nope I can do this! Thanks for indirectly bringing back to reality! Have fun on your trips and good luck with surgery!

<< Our relationship is changing, and while I'll still partake of you, I need the best you, you have to give.... things that will make me strong and healthy instead of weak and lazy. Wonderful post--love what you said above. You can do this!! You are clearly mentally prepared, you already love exercise and being active, and I have no doubt that you will succeed. You will be amazed at how the whole dynamic between you and food will change. You will be on the offensive and not the defensive. You may even become friends again--a healthy friendship though.

    Feeling Guilty

Guilt is what made me fat. Use your awareness and mindfulness and make today a new day. The more you recognize your triggers and behaivors...the easier it will be to change them.

    Instant Gradification Junkie

I have always struggled with the instant gratification thing as well! I had to rethink the way I "think" about exercise. I list all the benefits of exercise, other than weight loss (i.e, sleep better, better mood, clothes fit better, regulates blood sugar, helps keep my skin from getting too saggy....). I exercise for all the reasons listed. I am not religious about it....but I am getting there. I always enjoy your posts.....this really transforms the way we think about everything. I just had a conversation with my inner 2 year old that wants everything RIGHT NOW! She seems to be a little quiet this week. Today I am the adult.
