    this sucks

    Hiccups

Hiccups are what's called a "soft stop". This means they are a signal from your band that you are approaching full and you need to put down your fork and walk away. If I ignore the message, it can get ugly...

I find out next week whether I need one or not. I'm not looking forward to sleeping with that noise and a mask on my face. Thank you for the explaining the difference in the water. I never thought of that.

    Well, OMG

Well, working in a hospital, I can tell you that it is the LAST place you should think you will get rest. It's always noisy and they have to do their jobs, around the clock. As much as we try to be quiet, if we tip toed around nothing would get done. The first few days post op are the roughest. It gets easier. My first day in the hospital, an intern told me that I would feel like myself again in a week. Although that was a slight exaggeration, it was not that far off. I got to a point where I had to remind myself I had surgery just days ago, and I was often reminded with a pain here and there. Now 10 weeks out, still have had a few MINOR glitches, not chewing enough, stalls, and picking a wrong food, but I don't regret it. I'm averaging just under 5 1/2 lbs lost weekly. Things are continually changing and now people are NOTICING! I'm also finding distaste for a lot of fattening foods that I enjoyed before. Don't focus on the bad! Better days will come, try to enjoy the ride.

    miserable day...

wow!! Just want you to know that you really do not have to depend on anybody to take care of you post-op. I have 2 little boys and a husband and I still had to do everything that I usually do. And i kept it a secret from my children because I didn't want them to worry. I was concerned about how they would feel. How old are you??? Quit blaming your mother for postponing your plans. Get a grip. Do you live on your own? You will be able to walk. You will be able to take yourself to the bathroom. You will be able to dress your self. You will NOT need any meals prepped for you. What is it that you expect your mother to do when she "takes care of you"? Have a friend take you to the hospital and have a friend take you home. You will not need to be taken care of. And yes your post screams that you are very selfish. Perhaps you can learn now to consider that the world does not revolve around you and your surgery plans. You need to know that you can do this on your own, even when you are hurting. It is not that bad- and they will give you pain meds.
