5 days left! Doubts set in

BigDaddyJoe, you are doing to do wonderfully well! My sleep apnea has resolved but then again, it was mostly due to the excess weight. I feel like I'm at one of the healthiest points in my life and I'm turning 55 in April - just goes to show that it's never too late.

    An interesting observation

Just be careful not to swing to far in the opposite direction. Neither are healthy. You don't want to love food too much, you don't want to hate it too much either. I don't cringe at food anymore but I do cringe at disgusting mountains of artless, classless junk. Appreciate REAL good food. The buckets of fried chicken have lost their appeal, but I do have an appreciation a good formal meal in upscale restaurants where the portions are small and the prices are high lol.

    An interesting observation

The disgust on portions will get even greater after surgery. I seriously ask my husband "would you like a whole or half sandwich?"...he thinks I'm a nut, of course he wants a whole. Also I hear myself saying "you ate all that in one day?". As I get my 1/2 cup of food down!!!! It is very FUN getting full so fast. Now I am on my 7th month. 2-3 samples at Costco is my lunch, occasionally

    Feeling insecure

My husband loved me at 112 lb and at 290 lb. I tended to be insecure, like you, but went to counseling to deal with some of the emotional issues that contributed to my obesity. It might be something to consider. Hang in there!

    Feeling insecure

Yes it is an emotional journey. I promise you will look back and be grateful you had some time to get used to the idea if WLS. It took me 10 months to get banded from my initial exciting consulatation with my surgeon. In that 10 months...I cried, I beat myself up that I got so fat, I convinved myself I had no self control, I was excited, felt guilty, etc. etc. etc. But even with all those emotions....I started to learn to eat slower....take small bites.....chew my food....drink more water. I cherish those 10 months before the band. Because when the surgery finally got here....I was more ready than I was ever going to be! Be kind to yourself.....use this as a chance to slow your eating down...take smaller bites.....chew your food (regardless of what your eating or how much)! Sending good thoughts your way today!

Weighing After A Poop? You Are NOT Alone! :-)

Of COURSE you weigh after a poop! I just wish I could take off my glasses too - but then I wouldn't be able to read the scale!

    PROTEIN BARS

Carol, I'm sorry you didn't like the Quest bars. Did you get a sample pack or just one flavor? I started out with the sample pack. I only really liked a couple, but that's OK. I would be happy to have 3 flavors to choose from. So #1 is Vanilla Almond, #2 is Mixed Berry Bliss and #3 is their new Peanut Butter Bars (like Reese's Cups). If no one else takes you up on your offer, send them to me!! I eat one bar a day, usually in late afternoon or late evening. Like you, I don't have boo coo bucks, so that's all I can afford. What's really great about Quest is that not only do you get 20g of protein, you also get 20g of fiber, which is what keeps your appetite away. Plus they are soooo healthy at only 1g of sugar and 5 carbs. I have heard others say to heat them in Microwave first. But I love them any which way. To others: try them out. Buy from GNC or online at Amazon.
