    No unfill.....

I had an appointment this morning for an unfill prior to my Tuesday's tt and breast lift surgery... I had called my lapband surgeon's office and was told I needed to come in for an unfill. SO I left work... shlepped over to his office, waited for 15 minutes and did the normal weigh in...vitals etc... I had lost 15 lbs since October (my last fill appt). I knew this but always nice to see on his charts. Anyway the Dr comes in and of course is happy with my progrees and we chat about my upcoming TT and he said...so why are you here? I tell him and he said...we do not need to do an unfill for surgery.... I am so sorry my nurse gave you the wrong info. I was like...um ok... but it was nice to see you... and he said to the nurse...no charge for today, gave me a hug and told me to stop in to show him the results but that unless I need him he doesnt need to see me for 4 months. I felt like we were breaking up....LOL

    Boobs R Us

So I recieved a call from my plastic surgeon's assistant this morning.... I have my pre op appointment late this afternoon as my tummy tuck and breast lift is next Tuesday.... She wanted to remind me to bring in a picture of how I would like my girls to look after surgery. I told her I found a pic online and will bring it with me. Of course what I didnt tell her was that it was hysterical doing it.... I have never looked at so many breasts in my life... I never realized how weird it was to analyze them, try to imagine how they will look on my body etc... And of course I had to incluide hubby in my quest for the perfect breast.... who really thought it didnt matter as long as I was happy. So he was no help. LOL I narrowed it down to 2 pics of people who had lifts after weight loss, who were over 45, over 5'7 and about 157 lbs..... basically ones I thought looked natural and were about my size and shape... we'll see what the Dr says. One more chapter in this fun journey.....

Evidentially my daughter tells me they are low rise and that's the way they are supposed to be... Who knew? LOL. I am finding out all kinds of new things as life as a thin person.....

    Rough Night Last Night

Just to report in... I had a horrible night last night. I had a lot of burning in my stomach and it was very painful. I used a heating pad and it helped a bit but the burning was pretty bad. It was a new pain for me. I can identify the cramping now and it wasn't that. I can identify gas and it wasn't that. It must have been from something I ate yesterday. I did have a yogurt late in the evening so maybe that did not settle with me. Maybe it was the light grape juice I drank. IDK but I am going to avoid both of those today so I don't have to go through that again. I am at the end of the first week so going to full liquids should now be okay but I need to be very cautious on adding new things to my diet. Cravings have been pretty much none. I would love a cracker or a piece of toast but I know it is much much too early for that. My incisions look good so no worries there. Today I am sticking strictly with clear liquids and see if the pain occurs again tonight. If it doesn't I know it was something I added to my diet yesterday. I am really trying to get in my protein but it is hard. The Isopure is good but it is getting a little old. I just need to force myself to drink it. I thought by now I would be more "back to normal" but I don't feel real normal. Maybe I should get out of the house a bit. That might help keep my mind off things. I am still sleeping a lot too. Not sure if that is normal or not. Any one who can comment and help me with these questions I would appreciate it. I know everyone is different .... Have a lovely Weekend

I will be having Laparoscopic Gastric Plication done on Friday, December 16, 2011. This journey has been a tough road however the long term outcome will be worth the torture. The procedure that I am having done is fairly new. I am a little nervous of the first weeks after surgery. Wish me luck!!!!

    New Years Day

Happy New Year Everyone! ???‰I'm doing this blog to help others who are trying to find support and information for their weight issues. Today is the end of week one of my gastric plication journey. I had surgery on Dec. 26 in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. The whole experience was great and it has been much easier than expected. This first week is all about creative ways to get quality calories into my body that come in the form of clear liquids. I have always had trouble with milk products but after plication my intestines REALLY, REALLY don't like milk. I made a drink from the "Bariatric Advantage" 27g of protein powder mix. The reaction was extreme gas. The noises were impressive but I was not happy! The base of the protein is whey, which is milk protein. BAD IDEA? This was the only real discomfort I have had so I heeded to lesson #1: Nix the Milk. I am not hungry at all but I am recognizing a specific tightness that is relieved by some yummy clear liquids. On new years eve I decided that wine was a liquid and gave myself permission to drink a bit but when it came down to it, I couldn't drink it. Even thinking about it right now turns me off. The other unexpected turn offs are chocolate almond milk, which I mixed the protein powder. YUCK! I LOVE chocolate almond milk and I drank this with the protein for two months preparing for plication but I could not get it down. So far I have had no cravings, just the opposite. I have also had no pain, except from lesson #1. I am off of work but if I had to, I could probably have worked today. I took down all the Christmas lights with my amazing husband ( my personal cabana boy). No problem with light lifting, stretching and bending with my knees. I left weight till last. There has been a lot of discussion about weight loss On this forum, but the fact is, no one has control of their weight loss, only of their actions that contribute to weight loss or gain. I started drinking two meals a day and eating one 7 weeks before surgery and lost 19.5 pounds. Since I returned home I have lost 4 pounds. BUT in the 5 days I was away for surgery, which involved less than 400 calories a day I gained 6.5 pounds. I toss this into the WTF file and rest well knowing I did everything right. Bottom line, I'm thrilled with my decision and excited to see what 2012 has to teach me. ???™

    Two Month Postop

I am two months post op at this time. I have lost a total of 27 lbs including preop. I went from 220 to 193 lbs. I am still not quite a size 16 in all my pants but can not wear many of my size 18 because they are too BIG:) I am eating normally but with smaller portion sizes. I have noticed that will meat and vegetables, my portion sizes are small. I can eat a whole bag of 99 cent Cheetos and not have any problem. So the moral of the story or lesson here is that it is the quality of what you put in your stomach that is going to get you farther in your weight loss. I have noticed that I am tracking my calories less but each time I go to put them in I am shocked by the calorie count.. My goal is to continue tracking because it is easy to tell myself I havent really ate that much. I had a two week weight stall which really worried me but when I increased my calories from 920 to 1100 I started dropping weight again. So not enough calories for my activity? Nice change huh? I was sick with a cold for week and I stopped exercising. My husband and I are committed to going back to the gym. I have to move to eat more and move to lose more weight. I mainly take low calorie food to work and save half my calories for home. Otherwise I end up with just 200 calories and a very long evening. Thanksgiving went okay. I could only eat two small sweet potato chunks, spoon of stuffing and 2 oz of turkey. I hurt though. I had slivers of pie later. I didnt gain so I guess I did okay. Occasionally I crave soda but I do not want to stretch my pouch. So as you can see it is a struggle still with your mind, old habits and motivation. This surgery requires a committment to a life style change. It is only a tool.
