    Post-Op Day 3 12/7/12 Home, Sweet, Home

Congrats on being home. I had to stand to drink for the first couple days from all the retained gas from surgery. It was too uncomfortable to sit. Hope everything keeps going well for you. Good luck

    Struggling

Thanks for this post, it is nice to know that even the successful banders stuggle and aren't perfect 100% of the time.

one week post op & feelin' so much better!

Congratulations!! I am 1 wk post op as well. Sleeved 12/4. I have not ahad a problem with pain or general feeling bad so much as I was tired. Perhaps from lack of food..lol I have lost 12 pounds so far which I'm very thank ful for. But now 2 day and nothing!! I thought I would still be seeing a pound a day or something. I'm am really starting to worry!! I'm eating pretty much like you. No carbs unless it's bean soup. But nothing white. Which I can't eat anything yet still on full liquids. Another thing, that is kinda gross but I don't know who else to ask... I had diarreah for a couple of days after starting my shakes then nothing...No poops! I'm not hurting but I feel like I need to go and nothing...Maybe this is where my lost pounds are being held up at?? *sigh

    Knocking on onederland's door...

LOL...I found some spots on my scale that give me 2 lbs less. I don't use them but sometimes I flirt with that spot. I remember when I dropped below 200 last May. Great feeling. It had been about 8 years for me and it was so painful back then. I literally starved myself to 198. Add the endless biking, running and walking and I never did it again. Of course I gained 30 of it back in a few months. Not now though. Good for you!

A word on pop (soda for some)

Good for you! I used to be a pop-o-holic and then when I was trying to lose weight a number of years ago, I quit and never really drank it much. But I did enjoy a glass or 2 when we would go out for supper or a movie. Now, I can have a few sips, but anymore than that, and I get a wicked stomach ache and I am 2 years post-op.

Is it possible to not be eating enough

Keep in mind, you have to burn more calories than you take in...so if you consume 1000 calories per day, you would need to burn app. 1500 calories the same day. And that formula is for a weight loss of 1 lb per week....multiply the calories burned per day for more..... If you have trouble burning calories (lack of exercise, etc) then consume less..... I NEVER counted calories, let the band dictate portion sizes and I made wise food choices.......and paid very close attention to my protein and water intake to sustain my metabolism and vital organ functions............ I have studied the "Starvation" mode very closely when I was first banded, and from a Physiology standpoint it makes perfect sense...for a NORMAL WEIGHT person.... It does not take into effect overweight people have a lot of fat stored to get through many famines.....as a matter of fact I WANT my body to rely on that stored energy source........just get your protein so your body does not turn on other important things you don't want to loose. That's always been my philosopy, and my body fat % is now very, very low.....as far as metabolism, I have more than enough energy with some to spare... I read somewhere....If you need to eat to loose weight...then none of us would be fat... It's all about burning calories versus calories consumed...always has, always will be. And the band is there to stop us from consuming to many calories...
