You are soo funny! I am soooo with you girl! I am from CA and BBQ'ed hot dogs of all things and wanted to eat them soooo bad. I even went as far as taking a bite chewing it up and spitting it out. It is almost torture sometimes. I am only a few weeks out and I am hoping it gets better/easier. Good luck! Stay strong.

    Ready?Going..

    Questions..?

Hunger- wasn't hungry at all the first few weeks.....now, 4 months post op, I get HUNGRY!, when it is time to eat, 5-6 bites later, I'm full and good to go for another 3-4 hours! Energy - came around 4-6 weeks out.....and gets better every day! I LOVE it.....feeling more like myself again,..the younger, thinner self that is Clothes - I purchased a pair of size 16 Jones New York Jeans about 8 years ago.....they still have the tags on them, I've moved 750 miles and into 3 other dwellings since I bought those.....and they followed me faithfully. I put them on, zipped them up about 4 weeks ago.......and that's when I cried. Today, I wear 'em and look damn good too! I've lost about 45 pounds, first started to notice it in my face. Last night as the hubby and I lay in bed, he was looking down at me and I asked what he was looking at (afraid I'd missed a chin hair when plucking)......he just smiled and said......."your beautiful face. It's back."

The pain is mostly soreness and gas. Take the pain medications as prescribed and walk.....walk......walk. It works the soreness out and moves the gas on thru. Seriously, as soon as you can stand up......straight......walk. Sometimes the first walk looks more like a shuffle........hum a little tune and shuffle along. The first 24 hours after surgery were the most uncomfortable to me.....on a scale of 1-10, I'd have rated my worst pain as a 6 or so. And I discontinued the iv pain meds myself as the ones you take by mouth last longer and you feel better. This is awesome and the BEST thing I've ever done for myself........other than marry my husband.......well, and give birth to my 4 kids.

    No Restriction After 1St Fill.

I would suggest a couple of things. For starters, most people take a few or more fills until they reach the green zone. Until then, you may have little to no restriction. That doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't do your part though. It isn't just about getting that restriction and eating smaller portions, you need to be adjusting your eating habits overall. Are you logging what you are eating and getting exercise? The band is only a tool and will not do it all without your help. My doctor and many other people's seem to feel 1000-1200 calories per day is ideal. If you are "eyeballing" it and not actually logging your food, you could be taking in way more calories than you should to lose weight. Also, are you getting in any exercise (walking, etc)? That will make a huge difference. I have had 2 fills so far and have minimal restriction so I am using my own "want power" (thanks CG) and restricting my caloric intake. I started out sitting around, then walking and got up to 3 miles a few times a week. That too has helped jumpstart the scale moving again. I am averaging about 2 lbs per week, which is on track for the band. For your own sake, act as if you have full restriction. Restrict your calories and make sure your meal portions do not exceed a cup in volume. I bet you will see some more results that way. Good luck to you.

Plication is not an appropiate Surgical procedure. It has all the disadvantages ( not removing ghreline, not allowing total stomach evaluation, high rate of failue, still grave complications) and no advantage ( it is NO REVERSIBLE) ove sleeve For all of this reasons it is not accepted for any Surgical Society. Hi there Ana. I had trouble with Okra. I think because it is so fiberous. I am introducing foods slow and easy and eating very slow and controlled and not drinking during meals. I had a turkey meatball with red marinara and I think the sauce was too acidic for my tummy. Figure my new stomach is learning as we go so I am just really going to introduce new foods slowly and carefully. Congratulations on one month post plication! I think this past month was the hardest part!

What if someone knows you are banded?

I am so happy to have all the love and support from people who really understand the struggles of having this band. So many people have this weird perception that weight lost surgry is the easy way out. Having the band is the total opposite, because there is so many life style changes that must be met in order to see the results you really want to see. There are times each of us may fall off the wagon, but get back up and try it again. It does not make you a failure if and when wrong food choices are made or someone eats a little more than they should. I view all of my wrong choices as a learned opportunity to do it better the next time around. Each of us much learn to be a little more loving and kinder to ourself. This is a personal choice that each of us has made for so many different reasons, therefore never allow anyone to minimize your hard work and weight lost accomplishments.
