    Huge Disappointment

I feel sorry for going through everything. I hope you can make it through 6 more weeks of liquid. After my surgery (6 weeks ago) and I could finally eat real food, I found that food doesn't mean the same to me anymore. Weird. With the shakes you don't have to think. I still have a drink for breakfast, I hate breakfast foods. I add decaf coffee and or peppermint extract for added flavor to the chocolate. Keep using this site to help you get through this period. Just remember the weight took longer than 6 weeks.

You will be fine I too went through what you are going through, I have high blood pressure and a high heart rate. I had to go through cardiology before my dr would submit my insurance. I had to have an EKG, wear a 24 hour heart monitor and have an echo cardiogram done. In the end everything turned out fine, They put me on beta blockers until surgery, but I can still have surgery, In fact my surgery is this Friday the 14th. So it won't stop you from having it, they would just rather be safe then sorry and make sure your heart can hold up during surgery

That Hair Should Be One My Head...not In The Drain

I was told Biotin helps a lot. I started mine a few weeks ago. I'm 5 weeks post-op and I've not seen anything falling out. I have very thick hair and It has been my biggest asset over the years too. I don't want to lose my hair either! I was also told that castor oil works on keeping hair healthy and conditioned. I tried putting it on my hair and it's working fine, BUT you must be warned to not let straight castor oil sit on your scalp. I thought I was HELPING myself by massaging it into my scalp and sitting under a dryer to let it "condition." Well for two days I was reaping all the benefits of castor oil induced voiding! It was not nice. I thought I had the flu until I put it all together and realized what had happened! LOL. My husband laughed at me for a very LONG TIME about the mishap! Note to self: Castor oil on the hair, not massaged into the scalp!

Eat To Live...no Longer Living To Eat.....

Hi There,, I understand where you are coming from about the intervention. My Mom used to make comments to me about the weight gain but they were more in a chastised (or maybe nagging is a better word) manner rather then sitting me down to have an adult conversation. I love my Mom but she treated me like I was still 13 and refusing to do my chores as opposed to the 37 year old man that I was. I didn't need to hear "oh your getting fat again". I have no children of my own and have no place offering advice but I think the approach to the conversation is huge. Hearing it from someone else besides from a parent would be huge as well. Again, this is nothing but the opinion of a childless 44 year old. You're right though...he has to want to help himself and hopefully that realization will happen sooner then later while there is still time. Thank you for the well wishes and I hope you're son finds his way. **Before anyone judges me I am in no way blaming anyone at all for my weight or weight gain especially my Mother. I just wish I had gotten a real reality check before I got so out of control**
