Time To Get Real
☠carolinagirl☠ and one other reacted to happy55 for a blog entry
I've been banded now come December 18, 4 years and I have not taken my band seriously. It's been a yoyo for me. Had fills ...to tight! unfill... to loose! Put a little bit in at a time and still not right!! I'm tired...just plain tired. I realized hey; IM THE ONE THATS GOT TO MAKE THIS WORK!!! Ihave open my eyes to a lot of thigs just this week. So anyway, here goes; 1. I joined a gym today. 2. Bought some high protein stuff. 3. And today...I take my life back and get REAL!!!! Ali -
1 pointIm so mad- I wrote this whole emotional explanation about what was going on and during preview a virus notification came up and I lost the whole darn thing!!!! I will have to sum up my emotions briefly here. Husband met me when I weighed 212. I gained weight as our relationship grew. Then our sex life got crappy because of my body issues and no stamina, aka cardio ability to participate. well.. Basically I had become a starfish! Did the LBS, he was supportive despite admitting to sabotaging me in a previous diet. He lamented in the beginning that he would die and I would look awesome and someone else would get to benefit from my hard work. When Ive mentioned the 2lb a week weight loss- nothing- dont expect a parade , but geez, no atta girl?? then I mentioned from another weight loss area this woman that lost 104 in a year! and his respnose was, 104, you should lose that in 4 months with this surgery because if not then why did you even get it. I told him 2lbs a week is good to which he replied, you could have done that on your own without the surgery, aka not spending the money... He has commented several times about my portion control and bought stuff for me that I cannot and should not eat, like ice cream and muffin cookies. I love him, but I now keep my daily struggle to stay on track to myself. I had hoped for a more supportive partner, but thats what Lap Band Talk is for. Sorry- I just wanted to vent and now that I lost my original post I am livid.

Stalling Slowly Going Away
CreateHealth reacted to angellic16 for a blog entry
Well, I'm back to losing weight even though I was stalled my clothes fit totally different. I have dropped a few sizes down and I am so excited. -
1 pointI weighed in 2 days ago and Im at a high 237.8. Just barely made it to 237. I really need to get better at changing my portion size. Ive even experianced some stuck food several times and it hasnt stopped me from changing my portion size. I will say, though, that I found this app where you take a picture of your food and it logs it for you so that you can be realistic about what and how much you eat. Its called the Slow Carb Diet app and its available for Android and Iphones. You can type in a description as well. Its not magically going to calculate calories, carbs or portion size, so you have to be honest in the description box. Its easy for me because I do carry my phone everywhere I go and It has helped me be honest with what ive been eating. I noticed it has helped me cut out my snacking (almonds) especially at work. Im struggling to make it to 2lbs a week. I have a fill appointment next Tuesday and Im hoping to jump off from that fill again. I would love to see 230 by Labor Day! Also bought a kettleball to work out with and I am AMAZED at the heart rate you get going when swinging that around! I still have the pain in my calf from my Zumba debacle. It was a little stronger yesterday for some weird reason. I start a new shift for the next 6 months on September 6th. Its still 4 10 hour shifts, my days off are different and I will be starting work 1 hour later and leaving later. The good news is that it will allow me to have more time to take classes before work without taking time away from my family. Already scheduling those days. Stay motivated- see you soon!!!

1 point7 wks post op tomorrow and down 24lbs. I know that 24 lbs is good especially since I am not at my sweet spot, but I still feel like it is coming off slowly. I am doing well keeping to 900-1100 calories a day. I have given up soda, coffee, fried food and haven't missed the one bit. I no longer drink during meal, which I thought would be horrible. I am counting my calories on myfitnesspal and I am working out 4 days a week on our elliptical and lifting weight a couple of days. I opted to park further away from the door at stores. The way I eat, cook, heck live have all changed in the matter of 7 weeks and I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. For the first time in my life I have will power. Today I went to a work meeting and they had coffee and donuts. I turned them down and was happy with my propel and my fiber one 90 calorie cookie for my mid morning snack. While the donut looked great, I knew I didn't need and and wasn't hungry for it. The only thing that makes me say hmmmmm...... is I seem to lose a half pound a day Saturday thur Monday and then the rest of the week I don't lose an ounce. What in the world causes that? My water consumption doesn't change. My calorie count stays in line. Yet each week it's the same pattern. I am loving my new healthier life, but still learning the ropes of living the life.

Prepping For My First 5K
mykdzmom reacted to Weighty Wagey for a blog entry
So I just had my 4th fill and I totally needed it. I could eat a whole hamburger patty and a small bag of chips. I haven't blogged in a while. Things are going pretty good. I feel really emotional right now. I am down 70lbs though. My hip is still on the fritz. I commited to the 5k for my birthday, so now I have to kick it into high gear for training. I just decided to commit and if my hip starts to hurt during the run that I can just walk. Now I just have to get over my pride and realize it is OK to just walk. My BFF : ) is going to do this with me. She has done it before and assured me that some people do walk and everyone is really supportive. I got some new strength videos this week so I am going to work on strengthening my hip and booty and see if this helps. I really love the way I feel when I jog and i want to be able to do it pain free. I also need to work on the mental aspect too. I get overwhelmed when I dwell on the distance and I need to concentrate on something else. I am working on an upbeat playlist. My mind draws a blank when I think of what to download. If there are any suggestions out there on some good running tunes, I'm all ears! Well the 5K is on the 4th of Sept so I better sign off and hit the streets : ) -
1 pointWow - what a crazy few weeks this has been! It still feels a bit unreal how far I've come on my road. Going from a high of 458 to yesterday's weight of 395 has really helped me understand that I CAN do this. During the fill, my RN and NUT were both stunned at the amount of weight I've lost since starting the pre-op diets (the NUT's exact words when he saw the scale were "holy ****!"...seemed like genuine shock). When asked what I've been doing, I just told them that I've been following the plan they laid out; cut out the sugar/carbs, amp up the protiens, watch the booze, walk a little, and take some vitamins. I think the biggest reason for the initial success has been cutting all of the beer/soda out of my diet (I was having ALOT of each). Now that my body is adjusting to not having the crap in me, I realize my progress will certainly slow, so i'm not trying to get too excited over it, but it certainly is encouraging. I've also experienced my first NSV - I fit into some shirts that I haven't worn in two years! I hope the rest of the July bandsters have had as positive experience in their journeys as I have. I wouldn't trade this for anything! My personal mantra throughout my journey has been, and will continue to be "kick the weight's ass!". So far, everything's going to plan - shibby!!!

1 pointI came across a great recipe blog tonight Emily Bites (Thanks to a member here on VST) and she makes these neat bites with woton wraps at the bottom, I loved the idea, but from what I understand they can be pretty carby, so I decided to try out some low-carb wraps instead, with some turkey sausage and onion egg bites(If you never heard of egg bites check out Eggfaces site, great recipes for all stages of WLS, shes awesome!) OMG they came out amazing! It almost reminded me of a thin biscit on the bottom, I topped them with a little salsa, yumm! I will definantly make these again!
