    Words Of Encouragement Needed Please

I have my surgery scheduled for Aug 20 -- and my mind is going through a strange emotional cycle. I almost feel like I am in mourning for my old way of eating. As I savored a heavily frosted cinnamon roll today I didn't feel guilty -- it almost felt like a "good bye kiss" Sweet sadness. I seem to have unusual cravings - like a last wish kind of cravng. I know where you are coming from Randi!!! Kudos to both of us for doing something for ourselves though. Blessings.

I have wondered the very same thing, but I agree with Tiffany has part of the success of what we are experiencing. I know that if I ate as little as I do now I would be constantly hungry, shaky, and unhappy. I know that people who have had the gastric bypass DO get hungry so that's one reason I chose this surgery. I have been lucky to have only a few people scoff at what I did - one called me an a*****e and a gigantic hypocrite [on Facebook for all to see] to do what I did and actually tell people about my journey. She said that not everybody can afford to better themselves and therefore I was the bad guy. She, I might mention, is not overweight which makes it even stranger. Oh, well - enough about my little life. I'm happy with the choice I made and YAY for the rest of us!!

Ditto to Dooter, I felt the same as both of you. I worried 'bout the pain and all of the changes but I was already having pain with the weight so I did my pros and cons and the surgery won out and I only experienced a bit of pain the first day, its been pretty smooth since. But your right, if you feel like you need a break then you need a break! Its very easy to get confused and freaked out with all of the different stories. Best Wishes To You and Take it Easy!!!

Week 17 With Bathing Suit Picture

Good job! You look great! I'm only down 0.6 lbs this week. I'm in the stall from hell. I've only lost 4 lbs this whole month. I've been working out a lot this week, I'm probably not eating enough to sustain my workouts. I hope I'm not stalled for long. I still want to lose 40 more lbs.

Wow. I could've just about written that SAME post around January!! You really do obsess just trying to figure out what life will be like post op. Taking a break is a great idea, especially the week before surgery. Limit your time on here or you will freak out on what people are writing. Go flush your brain of it all for a while. That's a good idea. If you've decided surgery is right for you, then don't let any negativity from anyone ruin that for you.

I began making small changes at first. I stopped late night snacking and I began to exercise. I made sure I was eating nuts protein vegetables and made one meal a protein shake. Do follow all instructions from your Dr. Prior to surgery. It is for a short period of time change your habits read instead of watching TV lift weights when you get bored instead of going for food. You can do it!

Planning is my biggest tip. Plan what you will eat each day and stick to it. And be sure to get some exercise in there. In doesn't have to be a gym membership or some sort of full on workout. Cycling, dancing, walking and swimming all work for me.
