It depends on the doctor but when i had my gallbladder out i had a ton of piercings (15 in my ears, nose, navel, tongue and a fun one). I took all the ones out but one in my ears, put a clear plastic retainer in the nose and took out the tongue, fun one and navel out. I remember they said i couldnt keep the tongue ring in even with a retainer because of the tube they put down your throat and you shouldnt have anything metal on you. If you have anything like nipples or navel i wouldnt think you'd be able to keep clear plastic retainers in there but the nose should be ok. Id ask. I did end up losing a few piercings from the gallbladder surgery (navel since they take it out there there) and one in my ears. I havent been sleeved yet but i would ask your surgeon!

Hi Goal! I'm quite new to the site but like you am looking for support. All our our loved ones can be there for us to the best of their ability but sometimes you just need to talk to someone that is going thru the same things you are. I hope you find the support you are looking for! I am being banded in 16 days. I am just a bundle of questions and have found this site to be amazing. Good luck!

So glad you posted about your experience it has really shed more insight on what to expect. I go in on June 13th for the sleeve. And I'm terrified. I keep trying to talk myself out of surgery. How did you cope with watching everyone else eat around you i.e. while cooking meals for the family etc.?
