What You Haven't Lost All The Weight Yet?

I bet you Jim that your wife is the President of your Fan Club and wants to know if you're having problems. As for the rest lets break this down: You could have gotten bypass but remind yourself..why didn't you? Did you not want someone mucking about in your insides playing with your intestines, cause that is a big turn off for me...ewww. One giant reason that I don't want the bypass. Next have you done a mental inventory of everything you are eating and drinking..everything. Even if you just took a bite of something cooking on the stove, a cracker you picked up and popped in your mouth without thinking. Is your sodium up..cause if your sodium is up but your not compensated with fluid then you will not move a scale. This is worse for women but it can seriously derail a scale for guys too. Next...tell them (not literally) to bite you! All those people, and I have found some of this out already BEFORE being banded, feel like they have some stake in your weight loss, some of them are jealous, some of them may be tuly rooting for you. You have to figure out which and prioritize them. The people in your corner keep em, the ones that are jealous or just like drama you can use as motivation. So after you get unstuck and loose more weight you can say...yeah Ive lost such and such, lap band is slower than many other surgeries so you don't have digestive problems and loose skin, etc. And you can always come here and rant and we will all mentally tell those people to bite us too!

What You Haven't Lost All The Weight Yet?

I think yuo should use your co-worker comments as an opportunity to prove everyone wrong and shut them up with your success. You're not a failure, I can guarantee you that. The fact that you are taking the time out to get your emotions in check lets me know that you can be in control of this situation. Don't let other ppl discourage you! Exercise, eat right, and make it work. Good luck!!!!

Remember this is Your journey... people are going to have something to say no matter what the situation. I regret telling the few people that I did.. there is someone on my campus who had the same WLS and she has basically given up... but for the most part, people are very supportive...of course you have the debbi downer's... those that say that I really didn't need to have surgery... I even had someone to tell me that I was going to look like a crack head... lol Don't get discouraged... stay strong!!! remember this is not a quick fix..it's a life style change that's going to take some time...

What You Haven't Lost All The Weight Yet?

Thank you all and you're all right....I just need to shake out of this and get with it. It is what it is and I made the choices and they're done. Now I just have to do the needful and get it done. mylynn, that was also my exact reason for not having bypass and yes my wife is my number #1 fan.

    Hmmm Friends Or Not?

I say drop her if she doesnt want to support you thru your harder times then she can sit on the sidelines. If and when you see her dont inform her of things. Just hi, Im well. How are you and let it be. Iknow I had A LOT of family and friends tell me I was going to die having the surgery. Im down 55 lbs and feel amazing. Still not goal weight (about 30 more to go) but I am happy I weeded out a lot of the negative people in my life. The WLS is very hard to deal with emotionally and mentally and then the food and to add negative people is just not something you should put yourself thru. good luck and hope to hear something on a more positive note in a few months... Maybe some wedding photos! Enjoy YOUR life and dont worry about hers!

    Hmmm Friends Or Not?

hey mylynn hate to say it but it sounds as if your (friend) is a smidge with the green eyed monster in just about all areas of your life. you are trying to improve YOU. you are doing it. right this moment you are getting closer and closer to being who you want to be. pity her if you must but do not let her control your mind/heart in making your life better. you are fighting for you. you are winning. dont stop.

Starting A Blog Makes Me Feel Weird

HI! Personally I lived on tuna for a few months after I had a fill that was a little too much. I love tuna. I mix it with a little shredded lettuce and some ranch dressing - yum! I still have exercise (2 yrs banded in a few days). I love to walk though and I do about 3 miles when I can - hard with 3 kids. My youngest and I (he's 3), will walk about a mile some days. My entire circle of family and friends have been supportive. Except maybe my aunt who when she found out I got my band said something like, "Are you really that fat" Well, yes at 5'7": and 262 lbs I was that fat! I still love my band, as too foods that I can't eat - it's RICE. Some people have different. I think things are subjective for everyone.

Starting A Blog Makes Me Feel Weird

Hi there! The only reason why I started a blog on here is just so I had an outlet about the journey that I am embarking on. The only person who knows that I am going to be banded is my boyfrien, and that is because he is getting banded at the same time. It's just nice to be able to openly talk about it, with someone other than my BF. lol, he's excited about it, but doesn't have as many questions as I do, men will be men.

    Bad Timing And Regret

Didn't you just overeat like 5 days ago per your blog? Sweetheart, you are missing your coping mechanism. Believe me, I know the feeling so pls don't think I'm posting hate messages or anything ill willed, just maybe poorly said on my part. Remember you did this surgery to save your life - remember you said previously you were glad to have this surgery or you would have gained 30 more lb.s by now? I too understand that feeling. Ok the weight gain didn't happen overnight. It's not going to come off that way either. Relax, practice patience, know that God is trying to get you to learn to work on the head while the body takes it sweet time. Some basics that I try to remind myself whenever I get to this level of frustration: Are you exercising on a consistent basis? Are you drinking your water? Are you tracking your input (calories in) vs. calorie burn (calories out)? To that, I suggest myfitnesspal.com - it's wonderful! You have a lot of stress in your life right now so that's only adding to things. Relax, find a way to 'destress' and practice THESE basics - get your water in, get your exercise in on a consistent basis and track your i's and o's (inputs and outputs) and I BET you $100 you will see the scale move. Don't revert to 'fad diets' like going back to total liquids. You cannot live on those. But I too know how easy that appeals to me too whenever I'm stuck, grr. Practice the 'basics' and know tomorrow is going to be better! Good luck!
