    Such A Failure

    First and foremost you are down 16 lbs and that is awesome. Second, you are going to have slip ups. I always tell myself as long as I do right 6 days out of 7 I can be healthy. You aren't going to gain weight from eating the chicken strips. Was it a great healthy choice? No. But you're human and you messed up. As you get used to your band and understand how it works for your body some days will get a lot easier and some days will be tougher than today. The band isn't magic, it just a great tool that we can use. Overeating and making bad choices got us to where we were before the band and those habits will take a long time to change! You are in no way a failure. Here are a couple of things that have helped me. Use Myfitnesspal.com or some other form of food tracker. When you slip up be true to yourself and just record it. When you see the calories it makes it easier to say no the next time. As soon as you possibly can start walking and tracking the calories that you burn. when you compare how hard it is to burn calories to what you want to eat it makes it easier to say no. I wish I could give you a big hug because I know how you feel, but you're alright, just get up and try again tomorrow!

    Such A Failure

    I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have been going to lots of classes and the one thing that all of them have said, your band is a tool and you are going to have good days and bad. Don't give up on yourself. I was told that protein shakes are ok, that adding protein powder to things also help with the hunger. I was also told that once I am eating solids I can back off of the protein drinks and eat protein bars. Give yourself a break, you are making a difference in your life now, take it one day at a time and don't forget to drink your water!!!!! Good luck

    5 Weeks

    Hang in there!!! I had my surgery on 4/24 and am only down 4 lbs since two days following surgery. I am being a bad girl and have been sneaking bites of meat. I told the drs nurse and she discouraged it but didn't forbid it. But I can't seem to get full. She scheduled me an early appt to get a fill. Hopefully your appt is early next week. I do moderate excercise on the days I hurt from the day before. Even standing in place burns calories and walking burns even more. Chin up!!

    OMG, that is so ME! I'm taking prescription meds for acid, plus additional Zantac, so I don't think it's acid. I'm hungry very two hours, like clockwork. I'm 5 weeks out. I'm obsessing that I'm eating too many calories and I'm going to blow this just like every other diet. I'm eating 1,000 calories a day, including protein drinks. But I do believe this is real hunger. I have gurgling, gnawing hunger. I eat, and it goes away. I'm still on mushies, and am eating mostly protein--egg for breakfast, a protein drink, something like soup, beans or mushed turkey for lunch, an afternoon protein drink, something like a T of peanut butter in the afternoon, then more mush for dinner, and at night before bed (so I don't lie there starving) more peanut butter. I'm also drinking lots of water. I DON'T WANT TO BE HUNGRY ANY MORE!!! I feel so cheated! I thought it would be gone forever, and here I am. I've lost only 21 pounds in 5 weeks, and I'm disappointed because I was hoping for at least 5 pounds a week in this stage. I was so glad to read your post and know I'm not alone, but I feel for you, too. I see my doc on Friday and I'm going to ask him about it then.
