From what I remember the preop diet was low carb. I would buy the premade hamburger patties (from walmart) and bake them all at once in the oven. Put them in the frige and heat them up when I got hungry. Used mustard and mayo. Also, I ate a lot of eggs topped with salsa. Another great thing I enjoyed was bacon. Again I would cook a whole pound and eat it throughout the week. Cooking in bulk made things alot easier!! As long as there are NO carbs in what you are eating it should be fine to eat as much as you want. The importance of the diet is to shrink your liver!!! If they go in and you liver hasn't shrunk enough they won't beable to do the surgery. The thing that made it the easiest was knowing that this was going to change me for the rest of my life. That helped me push through the preop diet. Just one small step to a new life!

I found that if I drank the Sobe Life water with nutrients I didnt get near a hungry as when I just drank plain water. No sure why, there were no calories in it, but it helped.

15Lbs Down Already But You Can't Even Tell :(

I would love to hear that you are learning to love yourself exactly as you are. Try not to say things to yourself that you would never say to another. You are going through metamorphosis... the catterpillar doesn't become a butterfly overnight, but the courage to change is worthy of praise and celebration - even before the big reveal and unfurling of wings. You are a warrior woman, taking control of your life. Celebrate that... and then look upon your new body with new eyes!

15Lbs Down Already But You Can't Even Tell :(

Oh, don't be so hard on yourself! You look lovely to me and you WILL see the results very quickly! I took a picture of myself when I was goofing around one night and sent it to my bestie. She pointed out the changes in my face and neck to me. I had thought that the weight loss wasn't showing, but it really was obvious when you looked at my pre-op and post-op pictures. Calling yourself names isn't productive. Try just patting yourself on the back and being positive, even though it's hard. You WILL get there and it will happen much sooner than you think!

Foods To Eat & Foods To Stay Away

Wow four months! Keep it up you are doing great keep asking for help. I remember when. I needed to slow down and put the Fork, Knife, Spoon down for a rest during every meal. I used to play games and see just how long I could let them be, before I picked them up again. I was always a (gulper) and a one bite (swallower). The band will keep you on your toes if you do not hold to those rules. Chew, chew, chew and chew some more to beat the band. Your mind thinks one thing, your taste buds another and with one swallow to fast or too large..... well we all know what happens then. No liquids we all know with meals RIGHT! I needed so much help back in the day and I still need to be reminded or my band will get the best of me. 100 pounds still off, June 29 will be my three year Bandversary and I am once a Newbie always a Newbie. Had the full nip and tuck upper and lower. Took my first Spinning Class at he YMCA last week and can't wait to go again. I enjoy being one of the small people. Eat small to be small! Easy does it and keep blogging, its the only thing that helped me work with my band as well as I have. I still keep learning new things. Going to FL at the end of the month and my biggest problem now is I have to many clothes and don't know what to bring. Go figure! Best wishes on your journey and keep blogging it helps. imaluckydog

4 Days Out And Feeling Guilty

My surgery was on March 28th and I am not exercising. I have gone for a few 10 minute slow walks and I have also overdone it by going shopping. The pain isn't worth over doing it ...we are still recovering; take it slow and all the good will follow!

4 Days Out And Feeling Guilty

Rods Wife OMG - give yourself a break - at 4 days many, many people are still recuperating. walking very slowly, sipping water - this is what many newbies do. For you to walk around the block - thats probably ok, but don't overdue it. No marathons, you are recovering from MAJOR surgery. Give yourelf sometime - and you will be there with the other losers, but you'll be a winner. ksthy

4 Days Out And Feeling Guilty

If you have 6 children to look after, I am certain you get more exercise than you imagine. I am pre-surgery and tracking my calories and movement with a fitbit (pedometer that downloads to the computer). I consume 1100-1600 calories and get 1-3 miles per day of movement in normal activity. I gain and lose the same two pounds week after week, even though 'myfitnesspal' tells me I should lose several pounds over the next month. Don't beat yourself up, your body is recovering from trauma, and our bodies don't all work the same. You are going to be amazing at this!

4 Days Out And Feeling Guilty

I think when you start loosing you will feel like walking more. I am only 10 days out and today was the first day that I walked any "real" distance. Any kind of exercise helps. You can park further away at the grocery store, walk around the block with your kids, etc. I am not a huge exercise fan either. You might try getting the Leslie Sansone Walk away the Pounds DVD's (cheap at Walmart). The one mile work out is only 15 minutes.
