    60 Pounds Gone!

Just thought I would post in the blog. Haven't posted in a while. Today I weighed and I am down 60 pounds! Very pleased considering I had failed at every diet out there. I will say the band is not an easy way out, it definitely requires a mindset change and lots of committment. I will say though that having support from family is the best thing ever too. However, I don't think I have support from my dad. He's never really been around and when I do talk to him on the phone it was always a lecture about my weight. Well I talked to him the other night and he says to me..."you havent given up have you??...I'm like on what? And he says to me "on losing weight". He says he hasn't seen a picture of me for a couple of weeks and so he was checking to see if I have given up. Are you serious? A couple weeks he hasn't seen a picture of me and he thinks that??? Needless to say I was a little crushed by his comment. I wanted to scream to the heavens...I have lost almost 60 pounds in 3 and half months for goodness sake! Some people are never happy I guess! Well enough about him even though it did take me a few days to get over his comment because then I would just look at myself and begin the doubting part. But today I am better, the scales moved again downward of course and I couldn't be happier. This journey so far has been incredible and I don't regret the band one bit. Well, that's enough rattling on for me for now. Hope everyone has a great day and good luck to all of you as well!

    Is This Normal??

Yes it is. You have been on a preop diet and probably lost some weight and it can take time for your body to catch up. Plus after surgery you tend to retain more fluid etc. And it takes a lot of weight loss before you start noticing a difference in clothes. Don't panic. Just keep doing what you should be doing and the weight will come off. You didn't gain it overnight and the same is true for losing it.

    1Day Post-Op

Was banded yesterday morning. During the procedure it was discovered that I had a small hiatal hernia, so the surgeon fixed that up. Was very sore (still am) and wound up staying the night just for better pain control. On the way home now and things are looking up. I felt like a prego holding my gut as I walked out to the car, Lol. I can't believe it's finally done. Excited to be alive, excited for the future! Cheers, Jason " The Nightshift Nurse" St. Louis, MO

    60 Pounds Gone!

I haven't had the band yet...but recall the exact words when I mentioned to my father that I am getting the surgery...He said "why don't you just diet and exercise and take it serious this time"...as if I haven't tried that for the past 20 years....it hurts...but ultimately this is for you and you alone. Thank goodness my husband is more supportive about it.

    Just A Question

I don't have a problem eating any type of bread, I just don't eat it very often. Sourdough was the one thing I thought I would truely miss and I really don't at all. And that's HUGE coming from a bread lover like myself!

    Almost 75

I had my band "installed" in 2007 & lost 125 pounds. Like everyone I said "I'll never put it on again. In the meantime my husband of 48 years died..but I still held my own. Some weight came back but I stayed under 200 for several years. A year & a half ago my sister convinced me to go on match.com and I met a wonderful man to whom I been engaged for a year & a half- and then I was so happy that I started to eat again & gain weight! Just about six weeks ago I got enough nerve up to make an appt to see my surgeon - after 2 plus years. I thought he would be furious with me but I was wrong. I took the first steps of seeing the nutritionist and the psychologist and last Friday I got the first fill in over two years. 2 days of liquids then 2 days of soft and tomorrow regular food - but carefully measuring. My fiance is wonderfully encouraging and I have 9 lbs off already. I know it's only fluid but gone is gone and I'm on my way to 50 or 60 lbs - down from 230. I'm 75 years old - work full time - have a man who loves me for what I am - not what I look like and soon will have the body I want again. Wish me luck!

Thanks Cocoabean. I carry my weight all over also. I must have alot of elasticity in my skin because even with all the weight i have gained I do not have one stretch mark anywhere.

This is my first post and I am new to the site. I am also set for May 22, 2012. I am self pay and had to come up with a down payment and needed time to do so. Also I have a work training obligation that goes through until first of May. I am hating this wait. I am so excited to get started and see results. I have already tried to make major eating changes to get ready. However, I just cannot wait. Here are some of my initial goals: -Cut up my Lane Bryant Credit Card -Buy my first pair of jeans in a regular store -run a whole lap around the track without stopping! I want to have a year goal of running a 5k -6 month goal of buying a pair of shorts! I just wish my journey can start now. I am glad I have found this site. I will be spending some time here. I have also watched a ton of You Tube Lap Band journeys which help prove to me that I can do it too! Anyone else out there that has to wait until May? -
