2 pointsI completely misread your title, i thought it said help me piss! I was really concerned that you had a major problem and that you were in danger of ending up with kidney damage. Glad that wasn't the case.

One Week Post Op And Confused
brnsexe reacted to SJ Banded 3-12-2012 for a post in a topic
I'm so relieved. Thank God I remembered this site today. Didn't want to call the doctor but who better to ask than people who actually went through what I am going through. Thanks for all of your support. -
1 pointAlmost everyone worries about slips early on. But in reality they are pretty hard to cause. Vomiting is the biggest cause of a slip. You are feeling hungrier or able to eat more because swelling is going down. Don't worry so much, advance your diet as allowed, and heal. You are doing great!

Death?????
Holly Dolly reacted to otters38 for a post in a topic
I guess I would just say that there is risk with any surgery. It is very low with this one though, since it is laproscopic. Another thing to think about.......what are your chances of an early death by NOT doing this and staying the way your are?? I have no idea what your situation is, but obviously since you are pursuing the lap band you are overweight. The risks of staying overweight were far greater than the teeny tiny percentage of people who die during this procedure. Best of luck!! I am less than two weeks out and couldn't be happier with my decision! -

Death?????

I am not sure that I have heard of any. I am a year out exactly (had surgery 3/18/11). It is the best thing I have ever done. I have heard of people needing revisions. Buy the book "The Bandwagon" by Jean McMillen. You have to follow your gut but I know 4 people who have had lap band surgery personally and all are doing wonderful. Two are years out from surgery with no complications. Follow the diet they give you...do not cheat post-op. Listen to your body and the people working with you (your surgeon, doctor). Go to follow up appointments. Make sure your surgeon is experienced and knows what he/she is doing. Do research on him/her. Please don't let your nerves get in the way....obesity is more likely to kill you than band complications. Lots of hugs and if there is anything I can do, let me know!!! Rachael -

First Fill
XTA reacted to ladyfromirvine for a post in a topic
my first fill is march 22. I am going back to mexico where i got my lap band to have it done by my docs ortiz and martinez. i'm not nervous about the procedure. after having a couple of kids and going through labor and delivery there is NO pain I can't tolerate. what i am anxious about is getting restriction. as it stands right now I have been "dieting" without the assistance of the band since mid january. I've lost 25 pounds, but its all been the old fashion white knuckle dieting I am so clever at. I am really getting tired of self restriction. My hope is this lapband is going to actually help me to restrict. Right now I can eat anything, drink anything, and screw around as much or as little as i would like to. some say it takes several fills to get it right....thats several more pilgramiges to mexico.. and i'm not looking forward to that at all... i hope this first fill helps to give me a kick start to this weight lose. Im tired of doing it alone and this is about the time i start to self sabotage...holding tight till march 22 -

Ok!! Is Anyone 100% Happy W/ The Lap Band?? And Successful
Allison0927 reacted to mauraclegg for a post in a topic
I can say I am over 18 months out - 100 lbs down and still 100% happy. Like someone else said there are sacrifices involved; like I haven't had rice in those 18 months and I can eat a bite or 2 of bread rather than several rolls. The sacrifices are worth the end result of wearing a size 8 to me -
1 pointWell it's done I was banded Monday (6/6/11) also found out I had a pretty good sized hiatial hernia. Thankfully my surgeon was able to take care of it at the same time. Yea!! two surgeries for the price of one!!! Other than all the bloating from the air they pump into you during surgery I feel pretty well. Reported to surgery at 6:30 a.m. ended up having to wait while someone was brought down from another floor in the hospital who needed emergency surgery I wanted to be grumpy but hey while I know this surgery is important to me mine is still an elective surgery. After a little over an hour and a half wait it was my turn. The surgery took longer than we thought it would we thought between 30min - 1 hour but it was a little over an hour and a half! Was transfered to my private (YEAH) room around 2 p.m. What can I say that has not already been said the air/gas they pump into your stomach cavity to aid with the surgery is just about the worst part of this whole thing. I have had a procedure done in the past that pumped air into my uterus so I at least knew what to expect. I also knew that after my c-section 3 years ago that the best thing I could do was WALK, WALK, WALK so by 9 p.m. that night I had made a couple of laps around the entire floor that I was on ...slowly The next morning I had a Barium Swallow at 9 a.m. and yes!!! everything was great. Now I could go home sometime early afternoon...oh the best laid plans of mice and men. Well in order to go home by 2 I had to have eaten (what a joke LOL should be swollowed) a clear liquid lunch to make sure it stayed down and that everything was still ok. Well it took the Dr. in the radiology department over 6 hours to make the official report! Finally had the report by 3 p.m. ... lunch by 3:30...walking papers by 5 p.m. and was in the car on the way home to my kids and my bed by 5:15!!! My 3 year old son was so sweet ...are you ok mommy? does your tummy hurt? can I see?! Took a nap then I got up and went for a walk around by cul-de-sac since it was dark and the temp was below 100 degrees. Came home got ready for bed and went to sleep for the night! The only time I have taken any pain meds were monday and tuesday night just to help me sleep. Took tylenol today twice but that is it. I feel great all things considered. Once the gas disappeared (UGH) I am just a little sore. This will only last a short time when put into prosective with the rest of my life. I know there will be bumps in the road that is to be expected. I have never driven any road that does not have any ups and own or twist and turns. We had to learn to navigate those roads and we did with a little time, a little more practice, and whole lot of patients. If I can do that then I know I can do this too!! I am ready to live my life at the front of the line not hiding in the back of it....!!! Good luck to those of you who have already had lap band keep up the good work and take it easy on yourselves we are only human and we all make mistakes see as far as I know there was only one perfect person in this world and while he may not be physically on this earth any longer he is still here when we need him. I thank God for allowing me this opportunity to find out how strong of a person I really am. I have already learned so much about me in the last few weeks that I had forgotten that each day is kind of like Christmas it brings something new every day that I have either forgotten or even things I did not believe I was capable of doing, of being, of becoming. To those of you getting ready for Lap-Band this site for me has been a blessing I read more than I post but each day i learn something new. I have gained strength by the kindness and generosity of others on here who have taken the time to help each other and those who questioned their choice/decision, those who have simply lost their strength to do this alone. God did not intend for us to ever be alone and I believe he has shown that through the kindess of those on this forum. Remember, take this one day at a time and if that seems to be to much then hour by hour, before you know it those hours equal a day. Life is a gift not a right and I plan on making the rest of my life worthy of that gift!
