    The Journey Begins

Welcome! I have a little knowledge but each system is different. I work with a group of primary care pysicians, and typically on the first visit it's a "get to know you" session but if you made the appointment with the intentions of discussing your weight, they may give you the referral. Otherwise, if you've been established long enough with your GYN (since they were the one suggesting it) I would give their office a call and just explain that you would like a referral from them since you're just getting set up with a PCP and want to get this done sooner rather than later.

Word, peoples perception of anyone that does a procedure for weight loss is sometimes hurtful and demeaning. They think its cheating, and that its the easy way to loose weight. HA , they don''t have to eat the smaller portions or cut out alot of foods that we have loved all our lives. feel the stucks or the constipation, or be compared to someone else they know that got it done. I hate when Im compared to someone else that got it done. "I didn't have that gaunt sick look like so and so" I just said we are all different. You are right we shouldn;t have to explain it, what I do do, is tell people that I feel better, look better.

I can totally identify with what your saying. I have several friends who have been what I thought were good friends for a long time 10 years plus. Not once has either of them said, you really look good since you have lost weight. They just look right past it and never even mention it. One I work with now and see everyday and the other I worked with several years ago but we have stayed in very close contact. We are still FB friends and she sees the pictures I post and there is no way you can not see how different I look. So, your right it is not my fault I took my life in a positive direction, it is their fault they have chosen to stay obese. There are a lot of idiots in the world and unfortunately we seem to have been friends or aquintance with several of them. Keep doing what your doing.

Keep working hard and use it as a motivator! Most people have responded positively to my weight loss and have also been supportive. If they are talking about you and you don't mind telling them about your surgery, than do it! Some people need to be educated. I hate when people comment how fast I've lost weight and start talking about having the surgery because they think it's some miracle that will make you drop all this weight. I explain to all of them that my band HELPS me lose weight and I couldn't lose all this without it but I have made a serious lifestyle change as far as my eating habits and exercise goes. Keep going, you're looking great

I use the Bell Plantation with my Pure Protein Vanilla Creme Powder, I add the entire packet most days (only 890 calories and 10 gms of protein, so half of a serving of real peanut butter and more protein) plus, 1/3 cup 100% Liquid Egg Whites. I mix mine with 6ozs of water and a cup of ice. To mix it up sometime, I use half a banana and only half packet of the PB Powder and 1 Tablespoon of real Peanut Butter. The only reason I use the Bell Plantation is because of fat content of real peanut butter. I like my protein shake to be between 25 and 40 gms of protein if they are going to replace a meal, that way they keep me full longer. I also add unflavored Pure Protein (from Bariatriceating.com to my hot or iced Starbucks Skinny Carmel Machhiato) I try to mix my drinks up as much as possible so not to get board. But by far the peanut butter in the vanilla or chocolate powder is my favorite. I think you are fine using real peanut butter as long as your under your fats daily.

    Peanut Butter...means More Protein!!

You should try bell plantation powdered peanut butter, they have chocolate flavored peanut butter kind, you can google search it and probably find it in your area. It cuts down the fat and the calories, I add it to everything, greek yogurt, my shakes, I love it best thing ever made! It's 45 calories a serving. 1.5 grams of fat per 2 TBSP.

    Mourning Food

I felt the same way. Honestly, it then hit me that I had a food addiction. I mean I knew I did before but I was miserable because I was still on the liquid phase and I couldn't have anything. The first two weeks of having the lap band was the worst for me. Good luck on your journey. It feels great to lose weight... it not only makes you look better, but makes you feel great! I feel much healthier, and I love that I don't just "stuff" myself with food anymore. I now eat slower and enjoy my small amount of food.

    Junior/misses Section

i know EXACTLY what you mean - i just started shopping in the regular section myself and every time i walk in a store now i have to stop myself from going straight to plus size. No one would undrestand that but us - but you are right it is a SURREAL experience - hard to get our minds wrapped around the new reality. i was at a thrift store yesterday and just for the heck of it bought 2 pairs of size 10 jeans (i started at 276 am now 169.6) - thinking i would just lose more weight and eventually get in them. I brought them home and both pair fit - a little snug but totally wear-able. I could not believe it. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!
