    February Bandsters?

Well I'm here sitting in the waiting room .... I can't really describe this feeling I have...excitement, anxiously, nervous..... Are a few. It still doesn't seem real after 9 mths of waiting I'm about to be banded. I'm hoping things will go smoothly. I've have 3 csections and bounced back from those with little complications I'm really hoping this will.be.the same. I'll post when I'm out and tell everyone how it all went. Keep me in your prayers

How Much Is Everyone Able To Eat?

It may only be the size of a thumb, I think that's a bit on the small side, but the food moves through rather quickly so you can eat more than that amount. Instead of thinking," How much can I eat?" I always tried to thi k " How little can I eat?" In other words, from the very beginning I ate like I was in the elusive "green zone". I measured out my 3 or4 oz of protein and 1/2 cup veggie and when that was gone I walked away, that was it. And eventually, I was totally satisfied with that amount!

Wow Violet a 'rant in red' I have to say that although your words may seem harsh to some they are in essence the way forward for a lot of people who are banded. Having the determination that you have expressed goes a long way to making this band work. I know there are days i really dont feel like exercising myself, and in the beginning weighing so much it was awful but the only person i was letting down was myself, yesterday i cycled 25 miles on the exercise bike , even tho i had a bad hungry day i did extra miles to cover me for the few extra calories i consumed ... I, like you was not prepared to have all this done and go through what we have not to change our whole life .. Good luck to you and i wish you every success, for those who are struggling read Violets words as a motivation and not a criticism ...

How Much Is Everyone Able To Eat?

I was banded 12/30/11 and have been able to eat a decent size portion. For example for lunch I can eat 1/2 cup cottage cheese and an english muffn. Tonight for dinner I ate grilled cheese sandwich and a few orange slices. My question is, today I went with a friend to an information meeting about wls, and the surgeon stated that with the lap band the stomach/pouch is the size of a thumb. I have had no fills yet, but am still losing weight. I have lost 32 pounds so far. Do this sound right? The size of a thumb? How much is everyone else eating?

So sorry for your situation. What a heartbreak! Unfortunately, a lawyer won't help in this cases, since that info is readily available to you as an insured. You could have called to check if your plan covered WLS. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to either doctor or insurance company. Can you self pay or finance? The sucky thing is there are quite a few companies that opt,out of covering WLS of any kind in their employee health care regardless of comorbidities and health issues. If your company opts out, than there is nothing any insurance carrier or doctor can do to help you get coverage.

What's the matter with you people who vomit and vomit and think nothing of it???? Don't you know it can irritate your esophagus to the point of pre-cancerous cell changes called Barrett's esophagitis? Do you want to lose all this weight and then die young from cancer of the esophagus? Don't you read ANYTHING??? For Pete's sake, go to your surgeon and get unfilled enough so that you can eat and keep it down. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that some of you are so un-informed that you risk your health daily. Get with the program, people! You had this surgery to improve your health and yet you are risking your life.

How long have you had the band and when did you hit your plateau? I'm worried about that and I've heard many people mention it with the band....

    Plus Size Section

Totally mental, how long have we had this image of ourselves big? That's not something that's gonna change overnight. even though our bodies are growing smaller. The mind and body haven't synced. My thing is I will still wear the XL stuff, its a comfort thing for me. Although I did get rid of the really big stuff that just hung on me. and I have been buying smaller stuff, just haven't worn it yet. I never wore close fitting stuff before.. I know I have gone into a store and the lady was very very nice and she helped me buy some pants, and try on different things. We are now into the numbers ladies, not the XXs anymore..!
