well we women can always dig something up to feel guilty about! Seriously, you are eating less and moving more and the rest is personal medical information...I just watched the Star Jones interview and it made me sad that she was so viciously attacked for not telling about her WLS! She was very vulnerable and just trying to protect and take care of herself! Its a great interview I recommend it...I really never told anyone but huz and daughter and I am glad for it...

    4 Years Banded Today

So, today is my 4th Bandiversary. I cannot believe four years have gone by so quickly. I've had no complications. I keep up with my Vitamins. I see my surgeon about once a year to check on everything. My blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol is normal, my blood sugar is normal, my BMI is normal, yay!!! I have to say this has been the easiest weight loss/maintenance plan I've ever been on. Even with the stuck episodes. You need to keep a sense of humor with you for times of stuckage. I lost 70 lbs in the first two years and I've kept it off for two years with hardly any work. I love my band. I am concerned about keeping it with me for the rest of my life. It IS an implanted device after-all. So, that's why I see my surgeon annually. My primary care doc checks my Vitamin levels. Life is pretty darned good. My DH got me flowers today to Celebrate, what a sweetie.

Before I had my TT, I also wanted a thigh lift. The upper inner parts of my thighs were saggy and just didn't look good in a swimsuit. I also wanted breast implants and my surgeon would only do 2 procedures at a time so I chose the TT and implants. Well now I don't really need the thigh lift. It turns out if most of your thigh sag is at the very top and your doc does a really good TT that skin will be stretched and pulled up when they pull up all the groin skin. I'm not saying my thighs are beautiful and perfect now but they definitely are not saggy enough for me to spend the money or time on a thigh lift. I am so happy with my figure now:)

If you're a person who holds a grudge and feels betrayed about something like that, then my guess is that your friend and your in-laws didn't share their WLS "secret" with you because they were afraid of hurting your tender feelings by suggesting that you're morbidly obese and should have bariatric surgery to deal with it. I see people every day (strangers, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, etc.) who I think could benefit from WLS, but it would be mighty intrusive and presumptuous of me to approach them and say, "You really need to consider bariatric surgery for your weight problem." Their weight is their own business, not mine.

Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?

The band is more or less "forced portion control," so I don't feel like a fraud when I tell someone that all I am doing is focusing on diet and exercise...because it is 100% the truth. It may not be the WHOLE truth, but it is all the truth they need to know!

Yep. I agree with this. I had lost 40lb before surgery and very few comments. When I came back after my 3-week leave, there were a few eyes popped then. It's the people that see you day to day that can't really tell but it's people like your hairdresser that see you about every six weeks that notice the most, I think.

lol I went to youtube and typed in (what does 5lb of fat look like) and it is shocking .....great motivation though 80 lb is GREAT actually AMAZING! I just can imagine someone not noticing 80lb thats the weight of a child ..WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THESE PEOPLE? Great job PUGS! laddie, I love it to when my wrist feel smaller (I’m probably just dehydrated) but it makes me feel so petite. and for a son to give a compliment that is an accomplishment all of its own!

Aww, I am sorry to hear that. I totally understand how you must be feeling. But this too shall pass, as they say... you'll get banded and be on your way to becoming fit and fabulous. Why don't you create a challenge for yourself? Lose an X amount of lbs before surgery or something like that. It might make the waiting period seem like a little less of a pointless waste of time.

    Stuck On Getting Stuck

Holy CRAP! I could write a book on this topic. Apparently, I am either deaf, stupid, or just plain hard-headed because I am just 1 month post op and I have gotten "stuck" three times!! The first was the worst. I am southern so I use grits as a comfort food. Plus, its consistency meets the requirements for the post-op menu. I am guessing I was hungry and, per usual, I was shoveling that stuff down like I was afraid somebody was gonna steal it. Anyway, the grits made a nice clump which blocked off my band entirely. So, anything that went down after had no where left to go except back the way it came. Good lord! I am talking a fountain!! I was still recovering from the surgery and there I was purging so violently that I started cramping in my thoracic area which led me to believe I was having a heart attack. Cut to me being driven to the ER and 4 family members individually from all parts of GA violating all traffic laws to meet me there only to be told... "False Alarm! Fat girl got her grits on a little too fast!!" Man! I was EMBARRASSED! And, lemme tell you, I ain't had grit one since. I am a fast eater and always have been. I used to swear I must have been in prison or the military in a former life because I could consume an entire plate of food in less than 5 mins. That is still a problem for me. That is the main reason I get stuck now. My treatment: #1 is Prevention. I have to do multiple things while I eat. I need to be chatting on the Internet, working in the kitchen, folding clothes, and take a bite every now and then. #2 - if it STILL happens, I try a little Fluid to see if that will wash it down. If it is REAL stuck, that fluid just comes back out. #3 - Sounds crazy but I hop up and down to try to jar it loose. (I am a real treat to watch in a restaurant). I am going for my first fill next week, I ought to have GREAT stuck stories after that one. I am a real moron when it comes to medical stuff. I try to do what is right but it is like I forget until AFTER something bad happens. Anyway, don't be skeered. Stuck is temporary. Weight loss CAN be for a lifetime.
