6 months and a week ago, i had no health problems even with a 47 BMI - BUT i felt so disgusting. I hated clothes. I wore things just to hide myself. I knew I had a pretty face but that all others saw was the fat. Today, 6 months after surgery and 88 pounds later, I feel INCREDIBLE. i am all about what i'm wearing, my make up, I feel just plain unstoppable. I want you to know that yes there can be complications. I have experienced none so far (truly this is thanks to GOD and following my surgeon's instructions) - but they can happen. I am very, very sorry I did not do this 10 years ago (I'm 38). But i cannot dwell on that. This is a LIFE CHANGING thing if you let it be. I truly wish all of you the best of luck in your decision and if you have the surgery - the best of luck on your journey. It TRULY is a journey. God bless us all!!!!

So yesterday was my 6 month ban-anniversary. In six months I have lost 65 pounds and dropped 4 sizes. I am leaving for vacation to Europe in 3 weeks. All of this would not have been possible without my band. This has not been the easiest journey but I am lucky. Lucky I have had no issues with the band. I work out 4x a week and keep within my calorie limit using my fitness pal. I am hitting a bit of a wall with the diet I know it will pass. I think I need a fill I haven’t had one since November. I sometimes feel this head hunger is never going to leave me. Head hunger is my biggest struggle. I easily can 4 hours or more between eating and when I starting eating it is like I am starving. I am glad my band lets me know when it is time to stop. I am hoping in the next 6 months I will have this head hunger beat and keep up my weight loss, I am half way to my goal. The band is the best decision I have made ever and I wish I would have done it sooner.

    First Supper

I am just curious since there are "last supper" topics for pre banded days, it would be interesting to hear the same for after banding. After your surgery, once you were past the liquid, mushies stages, when you were finally cleared to try a "normal" meal, what did you try first?

    Very Rare Complication

Well i guess it has been a pound every other week or so? I have 4cc's in my band right now. I know i really really need to go to the gym and this week i have scheduled 4 Water aerobics classes that i must push my self to go to. I think my lack of weight loss has to do with my inactivity. Before i had my complication i was very active but now i have just kinda slid downhill. Tomorrow I am going to get my life back on track and shed those pounds! I have been trying to do Carnation instant Breakfast for 2 meals a day and have chicken breast for dinner to start dropping some pounds.

    Lapband 2 Weeks Post-Op

@Natasha, Elcee is right!!! I know it is difficult but stay strong, you're only 2 weeks in and it gets so much easier. I still cook for my daughter and my mother is in my home until her house is finished being built. She definitely is not a healthy eater although she needs to be because she is overweight and a diabetic. Actually, she motivates me because I do not want to become diabetic. Also, most members on this site have had some form of lapband. You will rarely see a gastric bypass patient on here.

Might Be A Leak, Might Be Erosion..

Just wanted to check in to say that even with next-to-no restriction, I have now lost the 5lbs I put on in the last month, just with eating well and exercising, I can eat a whole steak with no issues, bread, rice, anything. So I'm being careful to listen to my hunger signals and to eat slowly. And it's working. I feel confident now that I could continue to maintain my weight even without the band.

I recently was on a modified Daniel fast. I still ate fish and chicken because we have to have our protien. I am saying this becuase I found when I was fasting and praying something happened. I was able to hear what God needed me to hear. Food was not all of that after a while and there was a slip up in my 28day journey, but it did make me stronger. Fast something and pray about it. It does change things. You are not a failure. A failure throws their hands up and says oh well, you are seeking advice.
