New Pics On My Profile :)

I like this new layout. It seems to be easier to update pics and such. I added some new pics of my progress. I lost the original ones that I did when i was first banded which is a bummer (didnt download them from my phone and lost my phone). So the progress pics are from about two months out and I was already down about 27 lbs. But you can see the before pic on the profile page and that was taken on October of 2010. I look back now and everyone that see it says that they cant beleive I was ever that big. Its amazing how much you can change in a year (or less). Come check out my pics

    9 Days Post Op

I had my surgery on 1/16/12 and have lost 10lbs since and that was all in the first week as well. I have been reading as much as I can about this and everything I have read says to give it time. Your body is healing and it is also in what I like to call the "oh crap" mode ... It is going to try to hold on to every little bit it gets aka starvation mode. Put your scale away and don't let it set your mood for the day. It will come off, it is just going to take some healing time first. I know I was pretty upset when the scale stopped moving but I am just going to give it time and only weigh in at the dr office !!! LOL Good luck to you =0)

    9 Days Post Op

Per my doc and many on this site, first 4-6 weeks is for healing and becoming acclimated with your band. Remember everyone is different so the worse thing you can do is start comparing your results to others. The best you can do is follow the plan your surgeon/nutritionist gave you and you will have results. Also remember that for many; results are not seen until one starts getting fills. Remain encouraged and optimistic. This site is great!!! For any negative you may come across, don't fall prey. Chew up the meat and spit out the bones.... Meaning take what you need from it and leave the rest alone. Good luck to you.

    Surgery Is Monday

I have my surgery set for Monday Jan. 30th. @ 9am. I have to be at the hospital by 7:30am. I know i will eat again and I know I will eat everything o eat before the band just in a smaller more controlled portion. If this tool can help me with the snacking i do at night i am sure i will be succesful with it and with losing weight. will it stop me everynight no, wll it stop me 8 out 10 yeah probably i can live with that.

I have told only my husband, no one else. I have not told anyone at work, and will not tell them. I am taking vacation, so no eyebrows will be raised. If anyone asks as I am losing weight, I will say that I am seeing a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Not a lie.

I do not miss over stuffing myself. I have only made myself really uncomfortable once since surgery and I dont want to do that again. I do not miss what I use to do to myself on a daily basis. I have made the commitment to work with the band. There are days when I do slider foods, but I dont stuff myself with them. The band still tells me when I have had enough. I cant say if there are people out there that have band rejections or if they just didnt use it properly. I think most cases go towards not using it properly. If my Doctor came out and said that 50% of his patients regain the weight, I would have gone somewhere else right away. He seems to be in it to make money and not to help patients. At my doctors office, you have to go in a certain amount of times the first year and then as much as you want after that, but at least once a year for life. Please consider looking for a new doctor to help you!

    Feel Discouraged

I do not eat snacks. my best friend is my weight scale. I always seem to guess more than it really should be. only bread I eat arnolds sandwich thins or flatouts. I try to eat more veggies - steamed and raw. lots of water - lots. love that exercising you are doing! be gentle with yourself, try not to compare to others. I think you are doing fine. keep going for the goal!!!

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

welcome and good luck. My sister had bypass and didn't have to do two week diet. Lots of lap bands do. I had a hard time starting, and re starting the liquid diet the next day. I cheaped a bit in the first 3 days= wasn't all liquid had two real meals, then felt sick after. I lost 20 pounds pre surgery! in those two weeks. I think that's the ticket right there. It gives up that mental boost-see the weigh come off and also make surgery easier and safer. But it also gets you ready for what you going have to do post op. It like a test drive, if can make it through the pre op diet you are gold're en for the first two week post op. It not as big a shock to your healing body. That's my thought on it. A few more days and you are there! You going to do great. Happy New Year and Happy New You. Suzi

    Hypo-Thyroid Bandsters

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Bandsters ! ! I went to my Endocrinologist today, and he was very Happy with my test results, while on the Armour Thyroid. So he is keeping me on it. Since I started seeing him,, he said I lost over 80Lbs., and told my Husband "Look at that,,, isn't that wonderful !" So I'm glad he was Happy, because I feel very good on these meds., and from working out. No significant change in weight, but change in clothing size. So I'll take it. Happy Thanksgiving to all the slow losers, and behave yourself if you can. I posted a recipe for a salad on the November Bandster site. So if you want a easy recipe, then take a look at their thread.
