3 weeks out -- what is your diet?

Hi everyone! For those of you who are now in their third week post-op, what is your diet for this week? I am in my second (and last!) week of mushies. 3 small meals and 3-4 Snacks. I have to admit though, for the past few days I haven't been pureeing everything -- I have just been eating little bites ofsoft foods and chewing them really reall well. Is anyone on solids yet at three weeks? Any oen still on liquids?? I get my first fill on March 2nd (and first follow up visit! Yes, won't see my surgeon since surgery until 6 weeks out!!)

    New To Fourm

Hi Jim, I know how you feel. I have around 200 to lose too. There are people on here who have lost more than that, like Cazzy, and they are great inspirations to me. I think if you believe you can do it, you can. Good luck!

Your stomach internally is surrounded by fat as you lose weight ( internal fat ) the band losens and your stomach shrinks .. imagine a normal belt like on a dress or skirt, as u lose weight u need to put the belt on the next hole, same with the band u lose weight band losens and u need a fill to tighten it..

    Isopure Drinks?

For protein powder drinks, you can get Pure Protein 100% Whey for $17.00 for a large, large jug at Walmart. One scoop with 1 cup skim milk, 1 splenda and a handful of ice blended in your blender make a nice, chocolately shake that tastes great at about half the price of the isopure. However, I too really enjoy the Isopure clear protein drinks in the bottle, especially grape. I drink at least 1/2 a 20 oz bottle daily to boost my protein intake (I am just 16 days out from surgery). They are expensive but you can shop around.

If it makes you feel any better, my 5 year old has been on miralax daily for several months now with no ill effects (except he is no longer constipated!). His pediatrician prescribed it and has no plans to stop it. It's not a laxative in the traditional sense. It just attracts more water into the colon, making the stools much easier to pass.

I agree with the comments everyone else has made. You should not drink while you eat for many reasons, the ugliest of which is that when your stoma and stomach pouch are busy with solid food, the beverage has nowhere to go but back up out your mouth - put on your raincoat and duck! Also, I want to mention that at a bariatric conference last year, at least 3 bariatric professionals stated in their talks/workshops that one of the #1 causes of disappointing weight loss after any kind of bariatric surgery procedure is drinking while eating. Doing that flushes the food through your digestive system too quickly and prevents the food from triggering your satiety signals.

My personal opinion....stay local. If you ever have a problem you will have your doctor close. I have had an issue before and could not imagine what I would have done if I didn't have my doctor within an hour away. This is a serious surgery. Keep your support team close to you. Again, this is just my opinion but please consider all the factors before making this decision. My best to you.
