What The Heck Happened To Me?

I was thinking the same thing....I am newly banded...only 5 weeks out and I have lost 24lbs. I have just been eating things in moderation and exercising. The band isnt about dieting persay. Its about portion control and satisfaction. Dont limit yourself too much because it will be that much harder later on. You wont b interested in those foods everyday. I applaud your effort for a healthier you because its sooo hard to make the transition from our preband food to our post band food choices Dont be so hard on yourself! Crystal

What The Heck Happened To Me?

Well no one seems to have a ticker any more so its hard to tell where people are in this process. I dont want to sound mean but it just looks like you are on a diet and I just no longer believe in that! I didnt get the band to eat like that...I have pretty tight restriction and eat very small quantities of any and every food...I dont log anything or look at calories and I dont really exercise...your plan sounds like torture I could never keep up with! Not sure what your band is doing for you!

    Step 1

Well, my surgeon hasn't required me to get the endoscopy test, but I do know that the psych eval is a pretty common exam. They basically want to make sure that you're psychologically sound and have a firm grasp on what it means to go through with this surgery as it's a life changing (and diet changing!) operation. Not all surgeons require the same tests for everyone as my father (who just had the surgery) had to have a sleep test, EKG, chest xray, etc while I only had to get blood work as I'm younger with less health problems. Hope that helped! ~Lyra

Exercise, And I Think My Mom Is Finally On Board!

The bypass and duodenal switch (DS) have been shown to quickly reverse diabetes as quickly as overnight, it may have to do with the malabsorption feature of these procedures. The band can also help to improve diabetes but I believe that it comes with the weight loss which is slower when compared to those procedures.

i was wondering about the comment you mentioned regarding gastric bypass for diabetics? I was never really given an option or discussed which WLS would be best for me. I am diabetic and I have fibro and pcos and was told about the lap band. I am wondering if they stated in the show rather the lap band or the gastric by pass was better for diabetics? guess it doesnt matter now seeing how I have already had the lap band performed LOL but was just curious. thanks
