    Pre-Op Diet Confussion

My surgeon doesn't require a preop diet, or preop weight loss, just clear liquids the day before. We have the same surgery date, by the way!!

    Nsv's Anyone?

I think my favorite nsv was seeing my ex at a party and then all his friends who used to say how fat I was, come up and tell me how good I looked. I just smiled, thanked them and told them loud enough so he could hear too that it was only going to get better.

Being newly banded just 11 days ago, those feelings of nerves combined with excitement are fresh in my mind. It really is a very minor surgery. I was truly shocked by the lack of pain around my incisions (I have 5 of them, no stitches). I was up walking to the bathroom before I even got out of recovery. My steri strips have come off them just in the last 2 days and they have healed beautifully. The only issue I had was with the gas they pump into your abdomen during surgery. It was a bit painful and uncomfortable. My best advice is to walk as much as you can handle because it really does help to work that air out. So far, I'm doing well. I'm anxious for my first fill on February 6th. As of this past Friday, I've already lost 30 pounds just from the pre-surgical diet and a week post op. I definitely am glad I did this so far! Best of luck to you and be sure to let us know how it goes!

    Is Lap-band Right For Me?

The problem is that you don't know if you will be able to tolerate steak or not until you are banded. I can not eat steak no matter how much I chew.

    Feeling Kinda Blah...

Hi Amanda, This is the first post I've replied to in a year or more. I had my surgery on 1/19/2009, so I am almost 3 years out. At 3 years I should have reached my goal weight. Although I haven't, I feel great! I am still 25lbs from my absolute goal weight, but have reached 3 big milestones I set for myself. My 4 milestones are/were...lost 35lbs..check. Lose 50lbs..check...get to "Onederland"..check and finally get to my goal weight (working on it). My point in telling you my story is this....this journey is yours and yours alone. If you want to cut down on foods to make you feel better..do it! If you want to feel better...do whatever you need to do to get it done. I would suggest walking..that made a HUGE difference for me! Everyday, focus on walking at least 30 minutes...do it in 10 or 5 minute increments if you have to. But setting even a small goal like that can completely change your outlook! Congratulations on your new "birthday" coming up..it will truly be a day that will change your life forever! Chin up...you're already on your journey. How you choose to prepare for it, is up to you and your doctor. You can and will do thiS!!

    A Lot To Lose!

I have about 200 pounds to lose myself. I am taking it 100 at a time and one day at a time. I am almost to my first goal of 100 pounds, and if the weight loss stops there, i will be perfectly happy. i am leaps and bounds ahead of where i was just 77 pounds ago. i have lots of energy and i feel amazing. there are a few of us bigger folk around and i know we can do this just as well as the smaller ones can.
