I have been pretty private with the decision to have the Lapband. My husband, parents, sister and best friend were all that knew I was even thinking about it, and other than a co-worker, know that I am having it done in February. I own a two-family home, and my brother and sister in-law live downstairs, and who are both very overweight. We always joke about out weight and out horrible eating habits, but she has noticed that I have had a lot of appointments lately, and have changed my usually over-eating ways. I am very close with my sister in-law, and I want to tell her, but I am afraid of what her reaction will be. She could either be really supportive? Or she can be kinda negative, or even worse compete with me and go for it too. She always said she felt like we were always so close because we are heavy. I don't want that anymore, ya know? Am I making sense? At work, I am a teacher surrounded by men and women who are tiny. I am very tall and very overweight. I would love to have someone to talk to about this in the lunch room, or have them stop asking if I want another chocolate. They won't understand, and I just feel like this is so private for me still. Anyone else feel that way? That is such a private thing that they don't want people to know about?

    Rate Of Weight Loss

I am 7cc in a 14 cc band, i eat around 3 oz protein and a good portion of 2 green veg, i dont get hungry in between meals as the veg and protein last me around 4 hours. I lost around 14lbs a month with eating around 1000 calories a day and exercising every day, including cycling around 6 miles a day. Its been hard work to keep exercising but i have to otherwise i just dont lose weight .

    From: A New Pressing Issue..

I tell anyone who asks about my weight loss how I did it. BUT, I have a different personality than many. I'm not intimidated by many people and I have no problem standing up for myself. At one time, my "level" was sleeve evangelist. I think that's a perfect title for me. I find myself wanting to tell obese strangers about my surgery and success so far!

Hello Everyone! Well 12 hours from now I will be heading to hospital to get my band! I am feeling nervous, excited, and scared all wrapped up together. What is really on my nerves is my fiance keep asking me how do I feel and am I ready?! Well, today was the last day of the "OLD" me! The next chapter/phase of my life begins. For 36 years I have been overweight! This is truly an emotional journey because I just got comfortable being obese, feeling pretty and loving myself. Now, I am getting ready to venture into unfamiliar terriority and it's scary as heck!!! All kinds of questions and emotions are constantly running in my mind. I am prayed up and ready for my journey. See you on the other side

    Let's be honest about exercise

Thanks to all who replied. I'm a stubborn person, and have never really liked exercise. I really need to get the mind set to "just do it". Any hints on how to make exercise a habit? :bolt:
