    Post Op Appt

Wow. My post op went good. I have lost 19 lbs in two weeks!!!! They did a test and found I have some restriction already so that totally explains the bubble like feeling I get in the morning. I did have a low temp so they put me on an antibiotic (yuck) it tastes like a grinded up pill. I would much rather have the pill. Oh well I dont want an infection. I am feeling like I can do this whole band thing today. I have days where I definitly doubt it though. Mainly when my hubby makes his homemade pizza. (My favorite food) My son cracks me up though. It doesnt matter that I have not eaten anything of real value in almost 3 weeks. Yesterday we went to Chinease and I got a small bowl of egg drop soup, afterwards, he at 7 says, "Mom, when is that band going to make you skinny? Cuz if you keep eating all of your food at dinner it is never going to work!" HA Oh my goodness. Never mind that I used to eat 5 plates at the buffet before, now if I eat a small bowl of dinner I should just give up!!! I love him. Here is to us January bandsters! New Years, New Us!!

    Really Stressed

If you are just looking at the scale for results you should keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat. Are your clothes fitting any better even if the scale isn't moving? Plateaus suck, but at least you aren't gaining!!!

I had my surgery in October, have lost 53 lbs and not had a fill yet. I can really eat anything that I like and have never had a stuck/vomit issue...I consider myself extremely lucky.

I had alot of gas and abdominal pain for the first few days too. I was thinking the same thing about all of the posts that say this was such a cake walk. I guess not everyone is the same, I am feeling much better now though, I am at oost op day 9. I still have some gas pains, although not nearly as bad. I met with a friend of my sisters that was banded 2 years ago and she said she couldnt believe how well I was doing. She said she couldnt even leave the house for 2 weeks after surgery. She had no regrets and looks great by the way. She told me that her husband told her to stop loosing weight, she was getting to skinny ! LOL. Hang in there!

Why Do Things Keep Changing? (Long)

I though about this also. I have a problem believeing the band can be tighter or looser at any given time. Although we all experience changes in restriction and the expression fits the best. Anyone who has handled a band can see what it is made of. Changes in temperature can expand and contract I suppose, but placed internally one would think core temperature remains fairly constant. I beleive it is more correct to say it is the "Pouch" that constantly expands (stretches) and shrinks. I am always tight in the morning. Why? Could it be because I have not eaten any solid foods in 12 hours? And I have been resting? It loosens up during the day, probably because I have been using it all day. When things get to where I do not feel much restrictiion at all, I will go on all liquids, shakes and Soups, for at least 2 days, and things get very tight after that. I try to consume mostly liquids all day, shakes for Breakfast, Soup fior lunch. Then the band is tight for dinner consisting of solids. Seems to be working better for me, Bottom line, the more I eat, the looser the band gets.

Don't compare yourself to other bandsters, I drove myself crazy doing that. I had no restriction for 6 months and gained and lost the same 4 lbs over that time. I finally got enough restriction that I lost 10 lbs in the 7th month and have lost between 1-5 lbs a month since then. It was so frustrating and still is at how slow I am going.
