*SUMMER, SAND, BEACH,FLIP FLOPS, BATHING SUITS, POOL, SWIMMING* Here in New Jersey we have about 4 months or so before we start unpacking the swim suits (in my case, I call that a TARP). lol. I don't want to have another summer feeling like crap and being miserable. I didn't go through months of Dr's appointments, blood work and nutrition classes to have another messed up summer damn it!! Yuppers, saying all that over and over in my head sure kicked me in the ass. Every summer I'm a miserable witch because of my weight. I never do anything. I don't even enjoy going in my backyard to the pool.... You know, because the whole world is looking at me, right ?. Yeah ok , like the world is worried about me. Im the only one with the problem here. I'm the one who THINKS everyone is focused on my big butt. But this summer WILL be different. I wanna give the whole world a reason to look at me. So with that being said, I've literally started over. REALLY staying focus on the meals and measuring and eating when I should ...(2 1/2-3hrs) 6 meals a day. 3 of them are Snacks, which I drink 3 high Protein shakes a day. My 3 other meals are high Proteins and vegys. I make sure I eat the protein part of the meal first , so if I do get full and cant finish , at least I got the protein in. (FYI, no fill yet). I don't exercise yet, per doctors orders. I see the surgeon on the 20th , so hopefully he will allow me to start after that visit. ... Not that I'm looking forward to it... But I am looking forward to Summer . So off to the Gym I go. Whoop whoop !!!!!

I think we all had doubts. If we hadn't dieted and failed, we would not have been seeking surgical intervention. With so many failed diet/exercise attempts behind me, I was terrified this would not work either. But as I sit here in my size 10 pants with normal blood pressure, I have to say it was the easiest weight loss/maintenance I have ever done. For some, it is a harder challenge. For me, it was very easy. My band is awesome. But you have to have the attitude that I will work with it, and go with the flow. You also have to keep your sense of humor.

    Malnourished

Usually the post-op phases are short enough that our surgeons don't worry much about mal-nutrition. Does that mean that we don't feel horrid while on them? No. We are used to eating much more than we are providing. My surgeon allowed me to consume as much as I wanted/could tolerate during liquid/soft food phase. But mine was very short. I was moving to solids about a week to 10 days after surgery. Really keep your Protein level up and add in a bit of fat if needed, that will also help sustain you. Not a bunch of fat, healty fat in small amounts.

Yup, I think it was down for the past two days...I couldn't get on either, and if you look at the posts, they're either from the last hour or so or from two days ago...glad it's back now!

What A Great Group Of People! Hello!

Too Late! can't go back now! Only Joking. It was because of my lack of abilities that I got banded in the first place. It really is very easy now, although getting through the first phases was filled with doubts and a little anger. People kept telling me I have to do this and I have to do that if I wanted to loose weight. My thought was I could have done this and that without getting any surgery!!!! But then, after a while, EVERYTHING began to fall into place and it is now, 1 year later, a very normal everyday lifestyle. Hang in there, follow the rules. I think of them a "lessons" needed to be learned to live with the band, perhaps more so for later than now, but just as important.

    Would You Do It Again?

I'd do it again for sure. And again. And again. The results were more than I could have hoped for, and it was the icing on the cake of my weight loss. That said, I had a great surgeon, nearly no complications and no keloid scarring, so in that respect, I could not have had a better experience.
