You Say The Band Didn't Work

Im confused why some people are continuing to stay on this website when they SAY "the band didn't work". It looks like they are here to cause trouble and bash the band? If you SAY the BAND is the reason you didn't lose weight. Then move on. right? Not that I can say leave, because obviously I can't and wouldn't do that . But i've noticed the same person going post to post arguing with people. Honestly, how do we know the band is preventing you from losing weight? How do we know you didn't eat right ? Just saying. The band helps with over eating. It does not make you lose weight. They don't place the band and the weight just comes off. It's all about your diet. Sounds like some one needs something to blame it on. Im new WITH the BAND, but im not NEW when it comes TO the band. Ive done a lot of research on the Band.

    Hello From Minnesota~

Well I've been banded for almost 2 years now. Sounds really weird and sad to say that. I'd lost almost 90lbs by the end of my first year and i've gained 40 of it back. My mother passed away at the begining of last year, and not to lay blame or make excuses but I wasn't really paying attention to my self as much because of that. After she passed there was a lot going on, moving, planning the services, I only have one brother here in Mn (Whom I moved in with after this happened). So a lot of all the after fell on me, then I lost my job midway through the year and finishing school (Graduated in December 2011) I just didn't have the needed focus. I was clogging a lot and have problems getting tighter than 3.75cc's every time I've gone above that I've clogged. Just before the new year I went to my dr because I couldn't even keep down Water and he unfilled me half way. So I have deicded that now is the time, no work, no school I have no excuse not to work out, and eat right. Just here to find support, food ideas (which is my down fall), and maybe if there are any Minnesotan's a new friend! Thanks!

You Say The Band Didn't Work

Shap it won't be that bad, I felt like I was back to normal after about a week. You just have to be sure you watch what you eat until they start filling the band. The way you're thinking positively about the changes you need to make will get you going in the right direction after your surgery. Good luck!

I got pregnant 9 months after being banded (twice, miscarried one the first pregnancy), my clinic defilled me, I gave birth to my healthy baby boy. Right after I gave birth I flew straight to my surgeon he did a flouro made sure everything was fine then I had a fill and the baby weight just melted away. Good luck ladies with your babies. My band baby will be turning 4 next month.

    Tightness In Chest While Eating

I agree with Jean...your band should not hurt a slight unfill now can make the difference. If weeks from now you feel like you don't have enough restriction, then you can always go back! That is the good part of it!

Approval Seems A Bit Too Easy.

My mom has hers through united, but she had to have a ton of stuff...all the things u said u didnt. Im on bcbs and the criteria are fairly simple for my insurance to cover it as well. Proof of wt for at least 2 yrs, no throid disorder, letter of necessity from pcp, psych eval. Surgeon requires scope to check beforehand for ulcers and psych eva. My oop is 1300. Im curious to see what experiences others have had as well...good luck!

I've always loved breakfast casserole, but most of them are more bread than protein. Not this one! One serving (and I could only eat 1/2 a serving) has 140 calories, 12g of protein and only 3g of carbs. 1 1/2 cups ham (cubed or shredded) 6 oz plain Greek yogurt 1/4 cup crushed crackers (saltines/Ritz) 1/4 cup shredded cheese 2 tablespoons margarine 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion (I used onion flakes) 6 eggs Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray an 8x8 pan. Melt the margarine in a large bowl. Add the ham, yogurt, crackers, cheese and onion. Stir. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, then stir into the first mixture. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until center is firm. Let stand before serving. 9 servings. Source: Breakfast Casserole: High protein, low carb!
