    Seriously?

You're doing fine. What a lot of people don't understand is that you actually want stalls. Yes, I typed that correctly. You want to stall. It tells you that your body is progressing through this process. Let's take a look at what your body has gone through lately: 5 incisions in your belly Removal of 85% of your stomach Hiatal hernia repair ... ? Reduction of calories by about 2/3rds Reduction of liquids by about 1/2 How should the body react? It is going, "WOA! I just lost a lot of incoming resources! I need to remap how I am going to deal with this and start using some local reserves." Everyone goes through this. It is a good thing. You want your body to figure this out. This will not be your last stall, either, and again, it is a good thing. This is part of the natural progression.

    Small Changes And Big Responsibilities

You are so correct, you son is worth all of it. I am happy to hear that you are working on changing your habits and not forcing that you learned on your son. I, too, grew up in a family where I had to clean my plate, and unfortunately my husband and I passed that onto our kids. Today I have a 250+ daughter and another that has struggled with her weight all her life...all because we made them "clean their plate". Today I am happy to say that I allow my grandchildren to choose what they want to eat (of course, we only offer healthy choices) and allow them to be full before all is gone. We also limit high calorie snacks, sweets and the such. CARI, you are going to do great. Keep up the positive attitude. I am rooting for you. Zil

    Really ?!!! Am I Alone?

No honey, you're not being mean, but this is going to happen. He doesn't have the lap band, you do. And I'm sure you knew how it was going to be before you got it. I don't want to sound mean to you, because I'm on your side. I get it. It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but I promise you it will be worth it!!! It stinks that he mentioned he wanted to share the cookies with you. That was definitely thoughtless, but it's pretty new, and maybe he forgot, or just wasn't thinking. At any rate, I don't feel like you will be able to expect him to not make popcorn, not have snacks, and not continue to eat the same way he did before. Think about how difficult it was for you not to eat that way before surgery, and what you had to go through in an effort to make it stop. YOU had the surgery, so the difficult part is yours to take on. It would be awesome if he could manage to stop eating in his normal way to make it easier on you, but that's not likely to happen. Sooooo, the best advice I have to give you is to hang in there, and don't be too hard on people for doing what they have always done. And mostly, remember that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!! NOTHING! You can do it and I hope you will. By the time your first 100 pounds is gone, you will realize that it was a very small price to pay! Trust me on this! Cheering you on from the Nebraska prairie...
