we did it. we have made a commitment to a better life to start out our new year with.. I was banded Dec 20. I started out at 214 preop and then the day of surgery I was 201. Today I am 195-196. I have GOT to get rid of the scales and only weigh weekly. They torture me. I have had no pain.. No nausea. No vomiting. And better yet.. I have made it through the holidays. First fill is not until Feb 2.. Going to start an exercise routine of walking in Jan hoping to help increase my weigh loss without the fill. How are yall doing??? We have to stick together and support each other. I am here for ya.. If you need to ask me anything and I am not on here, you can send email to hlorettawilliams@gmail.com!

    Post-op Day 1

I still can't believe I finally got my lapband! It's pretty surreal, but the pain I'm experiencing today reassures me it really happened lol. I've been lucky enough to have very supportive parents and boyfriend here taking care of me since I got home though. I cannot express how excited I am about where this new journey will take me. I have been overweight since I was 6 & can't even imagine what it'll be like to finally feel "normal" with regards to my weight. I'm so happy that I found LapBandTalk, I don't personally know anyone else who has had this procedure & have decided to only tell a select few close to me so I love that I can come online and find support from so many great people who know exactly what I am going through! I had my surgery yesterday around 230pm and was out the door by 5pm (Really quick!). The pain medicine has been helping a lot. My incisions haven't caused me much pain, but the gas that they use for surgery is horrible. I try to walk as much as I can to get it out of my body but my shoulder begins to hurt pretty quick. I slept sitting up on my couch last night because the pain. I'm hoping I will be able to sleep in my bed again In a day or two. My diet post-op has mostly consisted of protein shakes, soup, and popsicles. I haven't been very hungry which is making this liquid diet easy so far, I just hope it stays this way! lol. Good luck to all of us on our new lives!

My Dr. did not set mine, the nutritionist did. She said I should plan on 180 that my goal of 160 was pushing it. Well, I am now 170 and yes it has slowed down, but I know I will hit 160 or lower. Set your own goal and let your body tell you when you are done.

    So I Guess I Failed Already ......

All the power to you if you choose to do this without fills, but I didn't go through all this preop crap for no fills! Sounds like whatever way you have chosen to do it, its working!

    Surgery Was Today

Today I had my lapband surgery!!! I feel good, a little tender. While in surgery, my surgeon found that I had a hiatal hernia so that was repaird as well. My experience has been good. Right after surgery I was extremely nauseous and was given something at least 4 to 5 times to help. I was also allowed to continue to sleep to help me with it. My surgery was at 8:00 AM and I was out of the hospital by 3:45. I am so fortunate to be able to begin my "new life" today. I began in the beginning of July when my sister and I went to a seminar. She is still going through the process. At times it seemed like the day would never come, now that it has come I can't believe it and wish everyone good luck.

    Small Changes And Big Responsibilities

You are so correct, you son is worth all of it. I am happy to hear that you are working on changing your habits and not forcing that you learned on your son. I, too, grew up in a family where I had to clean my plate, and unfortunately my husband and I passed that onto our kids. Today I have a 250+ daughter and another that has struggled with her weight all her life...all because we made them "clean their plate". Today I am happy to say that I allow my grandchildren to choose what they want to eat (of course, we only offer healthy choices) and allow them to be full before all is gone. We also limit high calorie snacks, sweets and the such. CARI, you are going to do great. Keep up the positive attitude. I am rooting for you. Zil
