Ok, my husband will probably kill me if he read this. Today for the First time I can rememberin my married life: I weighed less then my husband. Three pounds lighter. I was so excited. I felt so good. He laughed at how happy I was. Most skinny woman are smaller then their husbands, this is a new thing for me. I know I should be so happy but it was like christmas all over again.

    Plateau Ahead

You just don't even know how much I needed to hear this right now. I'm kinda "stuck" right now, too - waiting on a fill date next week. You are doing so great - Congrats on the 55 lbs!! You're gonna do it again in 2012!!

I was banded Dec22 and I am in same boat -gurgling, side pain, and do not pick up that lint on the floor! cause it will hurt, sitting in front of PC kinda uncomfortable too, I figure all the brusing and swelling inside,,, slow n easy, some faster healers than others, I still have my bruise when they drew blood pre- op! Hang in there,,,

Yay for you!!!!!! I too left the pecan carmel chocolate crust cheesecake on the plate. I ate three bites and that was enough. Oh but I dreamed about it later, good thing it was at my brother's house and not with me. Thank God for the Sleeve!!!!!

Hello, I wondered about these two procedures also. I ended up getting banded back in February of 2011. For me I realized I could lose weight well enough with the band and I liked that I needed to check in more often with the doctor to get fills, etc. Being held accountable to someone whomever it is, for me is important, so having to check in with my doctor helps me. I've lost over 80 pounds so far and hope to lose 20 more by my 1 year anniversary, Feb. 7th. Banding has worked well for me, I've had no problems and I have been able to lose a lot of weight with the band. I also had a sweet tooth before banding and was told banding might not work as well because of that, but it has worked wonderfully for me. People lose a lot of weight with the band. For me, I consider my band my best friend because it helps me know what foods are good for me and which foods aren't so good for me. My band helps me make better food choices, healthier food choices and helps me not overeat. All the things I always wished I could do on my own, but never could. I no longer have high blood pressure, I can keep up with others better, I am more active, I am less self conscious, I feel normal in my every day life. I can buckle seat belts and fit into booths easily. I no longer worry about being able to fit into seats. My joints don't hurt much at all unless I walk for hours and hours, then I might feel a pinch, I don't have to take any Advil and before banding I was taking 8 Advil a day and taking more to sleep. I have had many health improvements so far and I will continue to feel better as I keep losing more weight. I can walk up a flight of stairs now without heavy breathing. With the band, I lead a normal life with food. I no longer obsess and I don't feel cheated or deprived beause I feel my band protects me from food dangers. I didn't use to be able to control any of my overeating, but now with the help of my band, checking in often with my doctors, being accountable to others, I manage my food rather well. I'm proud of myself for getting banded because it was a huge decision for me. It's definitely not the easy way out. For me, banding was the best decision I ever made. I have no regrets. Thanks.

Having another laproscopic surgery would not increase your risk, I had laproscopic surgery years ago and was banded last Friday with no complications. It was never considered a risk that I had a similar procedure in the past. I also have a BMI under 40, but because of High Blood pressure and cholesterol,my insurance approved the surgery. Good luck to you!

Help - Most Fluid Removed From Lap Band

I can feel my fat cells growing, too! I think they're having little meetings at night and plotting to take back over. I cannot let them succeed. Forum friend are telling me that this is a temporary thing, so I am choosing to believe them, I am going to beat it. Nibbling getting worse, but I am writing down everything I eat so I can make sure that I don't go over 1200 calories a day. Well, I can't include Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, BUT, other than those, I am trying very hard. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I feel like Linus in Peanuts needing his blanket. I will be glad to get my "security" fill back.

For so many misinformed years I thought that surgery was the easy way out. How wrong was I? I am working so hard to make sure I am hydrated enough, getting in all of the supplements and getting out for walks. What I have learned is that, it takes a lot of planning and effort to be successful which is certainly not easy. Day 7 post op today. I am feeling pretty good. I also had my gallbladder removed during surgery and the largest incision site is still pretty sore. Mostly due to a couple vomiting episodes and a coughing fit I had . The other ones don't bother me at all I have a total of 8. I have only taken a half dose of the pain medication. My post op diet is a sugar free clear liquid diet, no protein shakes until day 8 and this is until week 4. I was feeling pretty weak so I added regular juice and Gatorade I will stop it once I start protein shakes tomorrow. I can't wait. It blows my mind that I am excited for a protein shake. Thus far, I am not feeling any hunger which I hope sticks around. Pre op I always felt hungry and was constantly thinking about food. My starting weight was 278. My weight the date of surgery was 250. My weight today......drumroll please.........239!!! Looking at 239 on the screen is unreal, I can't remember the last time I weighed that. I love my sleeve!!!!!

I started at 381 lbs. I'm at 374 now, just having given up sugar & diet soda...not even on any pre-op diet or anything yet. I'm interested to see what Protein Drinks others recommend, as I want to "try on" all aspects of the pre and post op phases before I actually have my surgery. So glad to have found these forums!
