I read an article, can't remember where, that mentioned focusing on what you CAN eat rather than what you CAN'T eat- planning is really important. This is hard at first, but it gets easier. I find if I don't think about what I'm going to eat ahead of time and make sure it's available, I end up eating crap. I also weigh myself every day! I know a lot of people say don't do that because your weight fluctuates, it's depressing, etc, BUT it's not depressing if you're seeing the numbers go down every day. And if they're up a little, it makes me pay more attention to what I put in my mouth that day so that I can see a drop the next morning. If I'm not seeing a drop (or at least the same number) then I know I need to change something. Good luck on Friday!

    4th Lap Band Adjustment

My dr. says that is normal and I have heard other people say that also. So I drink a cup of warm tea in the morning before breakfast and it seems to work. good luck on your journey.

I didn't experience this myself, but anesthesia can do funny things to your body....I wouldn't discount it as a cause. But if you are that depressed, you really need to get back to see your doctor.....immediately. Anesthesia may be the cause, but only he can confirm that diagnosis and help you to correct it. Please call your doctor! All the best!! jim

My mom was against me having surgery too. ANY surgery. it was just because she loves me, and was afraid of the risks of surgery. My sister had by pass surgery in Sept. my mom saw how well she was doing and came around. she was there with me in the hospital supporting all the way. just took her a while to change her mind. one of my friends was also against my getting surgery and wouldn't talk to me about or help withkids for preop appointments. Hoping I wasn't go through with it. was very strange, She finial confessed she was worried i would get skinner and she would still be overweight. what was she suppose to do then? She was scared, Anyway, ignore the negitive comments and do what is right for you. I had surgery a week ago and feel great.

Isn't it so funny how our emotions play games on us? This morning, I was on top of the world, and now I seem to be in the pit. I messed up on my diet, and now I'm having a hard time restraining the emotional abuse that I want so badly to unleash upon myself. I guess all I can do is learn from this experience, and move on. I can't very well change what happened, but I CAN change how I react to it. I will choose to treat myself with kindness, and view this situation with eyes of grace. God, I pray for everyone who is struggling today. I pray that you put this mishap in perspective for me, and that you'll remind everyone on here that they are so loved by you. This, too, was foreseen. It wasn't surprising to you, so God let us take comfort in the fact that YOU know what is going on. You know where the light at the end of the tunnel is. And even more, YOU are our light NOW. We don't have to wait until we're home to have that. I hope everyone is thriving today. Erica

I definitely agree with you about changing the way you think. I am having this same issue. I was talking to my fiance about this today during my preop visit. My surgery is Jan 9th and I am scared to death. I have just realized that I will not be able to eat mostly anything that I have been eating any longer. Its very scary. I was also thinking about how am I going to feel when I become physically smaller. I am 36 yrs old and have found myself just now being self confident about my weight. Now it seems I will have to get secure with being "skinny". I definitely see how this is an emotional journey. Good luck on Friday.

    Enough Is Enough ......

LOL Been there done that. For those who have never been stuck think yourself lucky, just don't think it is because you are following your Dr's rules. Most of us do that and it doesn't stop stuck episodes. The foods that Dr's recommend are actually the ones that are more likely to cause problems than the unhealthy, fattening foods that shouldn't be eaten on a regular basis. I have been stuck on chicken, fish, watermelon, tomato, lettuce etc. The mistake most people make is that when they get stuck on something they then cut it out of their diets and end up living on a very small range of food. I still eat everything regardless of if it has given me a problem before. Restriction is not about restricting the type of foods that you can eat, it is about feeling satisfied on smaller portions. If Papaya works for you then again count yourself as being lucky. I have tried and it does nothing for me.Generally the best option when you are stuck is to try to bring the offending item back up - that will give you relief from the discomfort which could otherwise go on for hours. If I have a really bad stuck episode I suck on crushed ice, it helps to reduce the swelling and seems to speed things along. Good luck with finding out what works for you.

    Emotions (8 Days Post Op)

Hi Erica, I also prayed with you, for you, for me, and others that are going through what we go through daily. Lord please continue to bless us as we move through the daily challenges of life. Please continue to place in our hearts the joy and love your grace and mercy brings. We are all flawed and will fall sometimes, but I have faith that you are always there to pick us up, and dust of off. Thank you Lord for giving us a new day to be the people we know we can be. Keep on keeping on!!
