    Pre-op Liquid Diet

A good time is coming, I wish it were here, The very best time in many a year; I'm counting each day on my fingers and thumbs 2 weeks of milkshakes and one cup of hot broth. I finally get weighed for the scary pre-op, But the nurses all smile and writes on my chart, I'll not mind the pain, even if my tummy still growls For it brings the time nearer when MY band will be on. Better than cookies with tinsel and glimmer My Christmas cheer, will come when I see I am thinner!

    Loosing Hope

Wow, your plate has been full! I started the process last April. I approached my insurance company and they said I had to go through 12 months of weight loss counseling. So twice a month I talk to a lady on the phone. I will be released by May 2, 2012 and I'm trying to schedule my surgery for July as that is the only time I can take off a couple of weeks (I work for a university and the faculty are gone at that time). I'm wondering if you could just show up to the Dr.'s office and say that you will wait for the paperwork you need explaining that you only have a few weeks left in this year (for what it's worth). I have also faced negativity when telling friends. It's almost like they are jealous but some just don't understand how I've lived for the past 25 years. I've decided not to tell anyone else! I will pray for you and follow your posts to check in on you. The people on this site really do care about each other. God Bless, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thought My First Entry Would Be Different...

pookeyism, i have a date,I'm on the preop diet, and i keep waiting for the bomb to drop, all ready had my boss threatening me for taking off during the holiday season. It all seems unreal. I"m cagey and panicky, and it all seems like a sureal nightmare. But when I dig deep I know this is right, i need to change my life. I can't worry about pissing off the boss, i have to think about all the holidays i'll miss with my family if i die young from obesity. .......wow..... glad i got that out..... keep moving forward, your worth it/ HW 362 CW 347 surgery date 12/19/11

    Ferocious Frustration!

You said the only way you ever lost enough weight to be healthy was not to pay attention to what you ate? If you were at a healthy weight you would not have had the surgery. Please be cautious about what you let slip in that would make it ok - or would have used to - because it didn't. Your students are going to live. Unless you were growing someone a new kidney in lab NOTHING they will go without compares to what you stand to lose. Most of us here have a history or putting others first, and allowing ourselves to fall behind. It is a part of the frustrations and bad habits that have contributed to our morbid obesity. It isn't a chore for you to have this step - and it isn't a step - modified eating is for the rest of your life. For you to succeed, you need to get used to taking care of yourself. LIKE IT! lol! There is nothing wrong with putting yourself first. You can actually do more when you do so. I have been learning this lesson, and looking back am surprised I never figured it out sooner. That is a part of the issue, I guess - Good luck and God bless!
