    Starting This Journey!

I took two years to make my decision to make a change as well. You are going about it the same way. Be patient as The Lap Band process can also be time consuming. I have been banded now for 2 and a half years. I have no idea where the time has gone. I have lost over one hundred pounds, kept it off and had a nip and tuck this past summer. I am a new person. I am called skinny and I look normal. I wear a normal size and can now shop in any store and find clothes to fit. I am proud of myself. You will be strong if you want to change bad enough. Do it for yourself and no one else. Eating the correct way just seems to happen after the band. I made better food choices and eat way less than I would before being banded. I must say I do miss a good chow down I cannot eat a lot of food any more. I will admit to you I still have disordered eating. I am and probably will always be a food addict. The Band has been able to help me control this issue. It is a wonderful tool and if you follow the rules can make you happy and healthy in no time. This is NOT a diet it has become a way of life. I do not take blood pressure meds or pain meds, no more sleep apnea, joint pain, headaches, knee shots, No more worrying about diabetes or not having anything to wear. This is a journey and make the most of it. Set a physical goal and then reach for the stars. I am skiing again never thought that would happen. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Gasrto Or Lapband??

definitely go to a bariatric seminar, they discuss gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and lapband. they talk about the disadvantages and advantages and compare the results between the three. after a couple years of research and alot of thought, i have chosen to get the lap band. To me there alot more risks and disadvantages with the gastric bypass and I just felt the better choice was the lap-band. But that is my personal opinion for myself. Go to www.lapband.com you can locate and register for a seminar in your area. However, I would advise calling after you register and verify the seminar date, time and location, my first try I went to the seminar I registered for and there was no seminar that night--was some kind of mixup. Good luck!!

    Starting This Journey!

Congrats on your decision to make this journey. I am with you, I just made my decision a couple of months ago. I am due for surgery in a couple of weeks. My wife was hesitant for me as well but she is on board now. Do this for you and your health. Include your fiancee in your journey.

    Trip To Red Lobster

I so look forward to when I can eat solid food again! I get sleeved tomorrow, so I still have about a month of shakes and pureed food! Glad you were able to enjoy dinner with your family! Congrats!

I think this is very profound! Opening up and sharing how you are really feeling can be very difficult. You will get there Pookyism! I'm going to go all religious on you for a moment, and I'm sorry if this offends your or anyone- but it is what got me through those same kind of moments. I know Heavenly Father wanted this for me. He wants all of his children to live life to our fullest and we are all given unique challenges to overcome. There isn't always going to be one right answer for the problem. For some people weight loss is easily done through exercise, for some they don't even have to worry about it. Some people have medical conditions that make it difficult to lose and in fact contribute to gaining. For some, like myself, WLS is an answer to a prayer. You'll get there. For some the journey may be longer and harder- but in the end it will all work out the way that it should. Good luck to you!

Thought My First Entry Would Be Different...

What you say doesn't have to be profound, just honest and from the heart. You WILL get there. It WILL happen. We're keeping a spot warm on the loser's bench for you! Good luck!!

could it be that you are trying to eat to much? listen to your body and eat slowly, your band will let you know when you are full. Also knowing the difference between wanting more and being satisfied is another big one. It has took me a good six months to realize "hey I do not need to finish this, I am satisfied!" Good luck

    Im Scared, Pre-op

I am 5 days out of being sleeved. I have not been nauseous once. I was very nervous before surgery which was normal. I had never had surgery or been under before that is what I was scared off. Well it was nothing to be scared off. I have 2 incision on my stomach that are about an inch wide and one in my belly button. Maybe my dr thought one day I would want to wear a bikini. LOL NOT. The only thing I did have was gas pains and heartburn but that lasted maybe for 2 days. Now that I am drinking clear liquids and protein shakes I want more. I feel hungry. I am not sure if it is in my mind or what. it is not like I am starving just empty feeling. BUT I WOULD NOT BE AFRAID. It will be fine. Good luck
