Weight loss surgery? Really? For me? Why? What’ll it cost me? Perhaps a better question is “What’ll it cost you if you don’t?” With today’s uncertain economy and rising healthcare costs, it’s normal to wonder if now is the time to consider the LAP-BAND® AP System. Extra weight on a person often goes hand in hand with extra financial burden. Obesity can have significant medical costs over time. Weight loss surgery can help reduce the cumulative cost of living with obesity: like weight loss programs, prescription medicine and hospital visits. Knowing this, you may want to consider these questions: What are your current out-of-pocket healthcare expenses? Are they due to go up? What are your current prescription and over-the-counter medication costs? Are they due to go up? How many times a year do you see a doctor or specialist? Has that gone up over time? How many days have you missed work over the past few years? Has that gone up? How much have you spent on non-surgical weight loss programs? (WeightWatchers®, Jenny Craig®, etc.) Did that work? How much have your costs for groceries and dining out gone up? How much have you spent on additional clothes due to your weight gain? Acting now by using the LAP-BAND® System to help you significantly reduce your weight — may also reduce your weight-related costs!

Greetings All, My name is Jeremy. I'm from Long Island, NY. I'm getting banded on December 14th. I've already lost 120 lbs just by being on the 6 month watch leading up to the surgery, but I still have a long road ahead. I'm looking forward to the band to help with my constant insatiable hunger. It's a gnawing whisper which drives me nuts sometimes. I decided after a few weeks of lurking to final introduce myself and looking forward to interacting with different people! Talk to you all soon, Jeremy

10 Day Lap Band Surgery Liquid Diet Fail!

It's really tough at first. And great job on getting back into the swing of it. My experience after surgery with liquids is that your stomach for the first week is trying to recover so you won't even be able to put much in and what liquid you take in is very filling. Yes you will come to miss chewing the most! POPSICLES are your best friend! They can give your chewing craving some satisfaction while still being liquid. Jello was good too for texture. you just have to be strong and remind yourself how much and why you want it!

Yep, I know how you feel. I've gain about 10 pounds from the first consultation on Oct 18 to today. My surgery is scheduled for 12/19. I feel like i'm walking the green mile to the surgery and trying to eat my favorite foods now. I know I will be on liquids for 2 weeks or so after surgery so I am getting it in now. I know its not good, but I know it will be fine once I have the band. I am excited to get the surgery and start anew.

Wow!!!! This guy sounds like a real jerk. I have been going through this process since July, and honestly it hasn't felt THAT long. 6 months is a drop in the bucket compares to having to deal with this guy for the rest of your life. I say, take the chance! No to mention, if you don't like your Dr or get a bad feeling from going there, you are much less likely to go if something is wrong or you need an adjustment. At my Dr office, they said there are some ppl that just get the bad and never come back, for ehatever reason, and those are the ppl that end up overweight again.

    107 Protein Shake Receipies

Just took a look at some of the recipes, the ones I saw had some high fat ingredients like heavy cream and ice cream, but the general idea is good if you omit those...thanks again!

I started having a little reflux at night a few weeks back. I bought otc Zegrid and have not had a problem with it since. I do however, have problems at night if I eat too close to my bedtime ... the food just won't digest if I do not sit up 1-2 hours. But that's not so strange. As for "is this normal", in weightloss "normal" is a relative term. Some people have to cut their carbs to make the numbers go lower on the scale; others must exercise more; and still others must do both. The key/trick is to find what works for your body/metabolism. It can be a challenge especially when you do not have a large amount of weight to lose. If you are currently at a size 16, you must be another 50 lbs or less to goal, yes? I suggest you pay close attention to how your body responds to certain foods and once you get your formula going ... you'll be golden! All the bst to you on your journey. ~Fran
