Excited, Nervous, And Scared
pussnboots reacted to misskerri for a post in a topic
Hey everyone, new to this site. Two words to describe me and my life.....Bridget Jones!! If you have ever seen the movie, I promise that is exactly my life to a tee. Always have the best of intentions but something always goes wrong!! Anyways, my name is Kerri, I'm 32, no kids, not married, 2 dogs. I am an RN and spend my days helping families and patients deal with terminal illnesses, go through the grieving process, and learn to not let it rule their lives. I was going to have the sleeve in Mexico, but chickened out on both Mexico and the sleeve and after some careful deliberation decided the lap band is more for me. Just looking for some great friends and lots of support. I recently moved to Houston, no family here and don't really know anyone. Can't wait to meet every one of you!! Thanks for reading! (and if you have any tips please send them my way!) -

From: The End Of My Weight Loss Journey. New Goal: To Stay Here And Stay Fit.

Hello everyone, I bring to you tidings of joy for the Holiday Season! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!! :smile1: I'm writing you today because I have recently had a revealing moment... or two. A few days ago I was walking around our house and I walked into an area where the kitchen light shines against our dining room wall. As I walked by I noticed a shadow appear on the wall, and one I could not for the life of me recognize. I was SO surprised that I had to walk by again, because in all reality I couldn't believe that was me I was looking at. This figure on the wall was tall, slender and super curvy. I was impressed to say the least. I felt satisfied by what I saw. Let me define for you the word satisfied because this is one I've NEVER used in my entire life when it came to how I viewed myself physically. Not once. Synonyms: content - contented - pleased - happy - glad Yes, this was me at that very moment. I'm going to admit something here and now. I've not one time in my life felt this way regarding ME. My reflection would always throw me back an image I couldn't accept. There was always something more I could do, to improve upon. There was even a time in my life where I was even underweight for my frame and I STILL could not accept ME. I always wanted to lose more, a pound here or an inch there. It was a little insane truthfully. Here I am right now, feeling high from adrenaline and satisfaction - that I am really and truly done with this journey. I put on my first pair of jeans since my final liposuction and they were easy to put on. They slid right up over my thighs without effort. I didn't have to fight them, and I didn't have to wear pants today that were too small in the thigh and too big in the waist. My thighs... oh so lovely thighs... are normal. Normal synonyms: regular - standard - ordinary - common - usual Another word I've never used to define myself. I am me, and I am content, pleased, happy, glad, regular, standard, ordinary, common and I am usual. I am also a finished product. Now only need to keep up with remaining healthy and staying right here where I am. So, EFF YOU SIZE ZERO!! You do not define me, just as much as my scale does not. My health, both physical and mental - and my happiness does. Source: The End Of My Weight Loss Journey. New Goal: To Stay Here And Stay Fit. -

Will This Liquid Diet Ever End? :/
wantobeskinny reacted to BrownDoesAll for a comment on a blog entry
I had the same experience. During my pre-op diet I ate at least a very small portion of protien and still lost the weight my doc needed me to lose. Do not go crazy stay away from the things that got you here, sweets and carbs. But get ready for several months of this.. The Post Op diet is not any better until your stomach heals.. Hang in there your moving into a life style change that takes time to adjust. -

Countdown To My New Life With The Lap Band!
oliversmomma reacted to FLORIDAYS for a post in a topic
That is hysterical and a little creepy at the same time. But I say what ever works! I havent named my band an actual name but I borrowed the lyrics from a Jimmy Buffett song and call it my Permanent reminder of a temporary feeling. Best of luck to you and Roscoe! -

To Tell Or Not To Tell About Lap Band ???

Thank you. My fiancé and family are VERY supportive as well as my fiancé's family. That is all I need. And you are absolutely right. I think she does have a drinking problem and I really do distance my self from her and the other negative people in my life. Life is too short! Congrats to you and your husband! You two will be so happy! -
1 pointSuggest that the surgical coordinator request a copy of your PCP's treatment notes for the past three years. Your PCP's notes should document your weight and blood pressure at each visit as well as noting any recommendations by your PCP that you lose weight. Perhaps that may be enough to document medical necessity for insurance approval purposes.

115lbs Gone In About 9 Months With Lap Band Surgery!
pussnboots reacted to TracieR for a post in a topic
I had surgery on March 8, 2011. I have been working my a** off (literally!) I am so proud of myself - I will say it because I deserve it! I have a good restriction right now. I watch my calories but, honestly not too strict with it. I eat low carb, high Protein, don't do bread or Pasta at all. I don't deprive myself, if I want something I have it. A small portion of it. I started working out about 8 weeks after surgery. I work out 4-5 days a week, two of those days with a trainer. I love it. I went from a tight size 26/28 to a 16 (!!!!). I started this journey at 371lbs and now weigh 256lbs. I want to get under 200 and then I will decide on a goal weight. I wanted to share some pictures to show my progress. I love my band! Sorry if the pictures are huge - I was having trouble resizing!!! Before (02/2011) During (Thanksgiving 2011) -

Throwing In The Towel
readytogoforit reacted to Cazzy for a post in a topic
It sounds like you need more support than you are getting and really it might be wise to get back to your doctor or a different one and talk over whats going on. Is something else going on in your life that is causing you to feel this way ? from your profile you have lost 45lbs so far, that is something to be proud of and going back to old eating eating habits and no exercise will just undo all the hard work you have already put in. It feels like whatever is going on in your life needs to be addressed with help and support and hopefully that will help u discover what is making you sabotage yourself. Of course there are people that the band just doesnt work for but given your initial weight loss it doesnt seem like that is the case, motivation to make this thing work to me is key for a successful journey, what motivated you when you were losing weight ? , try and get that back. Please dont throw in the towel, even if you set yourself a goal of not putting any weight back on it will help you bide time till you can sort out the emotional side of eating. I really hope u can sort this out and find something/someone that will help u get out of this 'low' that you find yourself in .. -
1 pointIt is real important during the healing process that you follow your doctor's instructions. If you're hungry, add more protein shakes. I used to blend a tbsp of LF peanut butter into my protein shake when I was hungry. It added protein and had a creamy satisifying taste. Also, blending your shakes with low fat milk or soy milk, instead of just water, helps.

Nzeba511 reacted to I-wanna-be-a-loser for a post in a topic
Private facebook group is made. It is called "November 2011 lap banders" If you add me, stacey diederich-speager as your friend on facebook, then I will add you to the group. Please send me a private message to get added as I do not want my whole circle of friends and family knowing about my lap band decision just yet. Thank you!!!!
